Sniper Magazine

Re: Sniper Magazine

Very interesting!

I was just going through my reading / research material and came across my copy of the Sniper Magazine. I had given up on seeing another issue, but figured I would check the Internet just in case, and I came across this topic for the first time.

Many thanks to everyone who made that issue happen, and thanks for coming to the Hide to seek feedback.

I really hope this magazine will become a regular in 2012 and we will see it at least once a quarter if not every other month. No question there is plenty of material to include in each issue, and I am sure you would not have a problem finding competent snipers / writers to contribute.

Mr. Poole I will be passing some info along to you in regards to future issues.

Hopefully this can become a staple for the community!

Eric, I'm sure that quite a few issues could be spoken for through this site. Maybe you could talk to Lowlight and get the ok for a group buy list. Just an idea.

Either way, looking forward to the next one.

Re: Sniper Magazine

Does anyone have an idea where I could find a copy in the south Puget Sound area?

It is a very liberal area, and local stores begrudgingly carry firearms magazines.

When it hits the local bookstores, I'll be picking up every copy they have available just for guys like you.

All you'll be expected to pay is the cost of the magazine and a small cost to ship it to you.

KillShot, I would like to reserve 1 copy of the new Sniper magazine from you. Let me know how much I owe you. Thanks in advance.

+1. Pick up a copy today from Walmart.

Re: Sniper Magazine

Good Mag Eric. Stick with it. I picked up a copy at Barnes & Noble last week.

Re: Sniper Magazine

I bought the second edition at Barnes and Noble this weekend.

The Guns and Ammo crew are starting to get into stride. If you liked the first edition you'll like this one (I liked it much better than the first).

The writing is better, editing is tighter, the topics were well-selected, and there is a good cross-section of information, techniques, and gear. It very much reminds me of old-school magazine writing where you WANT to see the next edition. The writers (especially Tom Beckstrand and Eric Poole) are getting better as their writing styles mature.

If the guys can keep it up they'll have a consistent winner on their hands. Right now I think there's enough time in between editions where they don't have to fill it with crap to make a publishing deadline.

Bravo, fellas.

If you are currently deployed or stationed overseas send me a PM and I can run down to the store and stick one in the mail to you.

Re: Sniper Magazine

Just picked up a copy at Walmart. I felt kind of like a stereotype buying it. Nothing quite says crazy redkneck gun owner like buying a copy of SNIPER magazine at Walmart.

Re: Sniper Magazine

Awesome magazine, good to follow the history on the M24 and to read the opinions on the gear from those that make a living in the greatest military in the world! Thank you to all that serve or served in our nations defense. Snipe on!

Re: Sniper Magazine

One particular article of a hunting trip with a strong young Recon Marine that was severely wounded was probably the best article in the magazine.
Keep up the good work!

Re: Sniper Magazine

Just realized this thread was updated, hope to find the new issue around here. My brother found the last one for me at a grocery store, either at Kroger or Publix. I'll check B&N also.

Re: Sniper Magazine

thanks for the article on the history of the M24.

Had to laugh about Jim Guest hitting the target and seeing Dave Zavitz's name again. Too bad he went out the way he did.

Re: Sniper Magazine

Found a copy yesterday. I'll give it a read at work this week. And yes I have crazy amounts of free time at work!

Re: Sniper Magazine

Eric,

Congratulations on getting the 2nd one out! Just placed an order, can't wait to receive it. I loved your 1st issue - and am sure I'll enjoy the 2nd one.

Happy Holidays!

Re: Sniper Magazine

Thanks for the kind words, guys. We had a blast doing the magazine this year and are looking forward to doing it again next year. Tom

eh? Is this a yearly magazine? or all the issues have been written already?

Re: Sniper Magazine

Fun read, best on the topic you'll find in a store.

Hope there are more issues in the future.

Unfortunately, after reading it I want a CQBSS...

Re: Sniper Magazine

taseal - yup, it's only an annual. we start on each issue as soon as the previous one goes to print.

luvtolean - thanks. there'll be an issue next year.

Re: Sniper Magazine

i bought mine from the intermedia outdoors store website a few months back but i dont see the issue listed anymore.

Third issue just out. I only scanned it so far, but it had a really good article on boots...seriously. I know everybody here is about distance shooting. I am way past my last enlistment and enjoy the outdoors, a good range day or a chance at deer, elk and antelope and don't want to miss. I really ain't into the "hunting rags" too much this magazine seems less about some exotic hunt and more solid on ballistics, gear and shooting.

I would like to see more history. As Eric seems to stop in here from time to time, how bout some Somalia articles - some of that stuff is allowed to be talked about now. Keep up the good work.

this will be my 3rd sniper mag i have picked up and looking forward to reading about AI, I've enjoyed all of them and they are stuffed with great articles and information, besides you can take the mag anywhere with you i cant always take my laptop.. and 8.99 for an issue is cheap for me, I dont mind supporting something i love doing and reading about.

Just picked up issue #3 at Safeway in Golden, CO. Lot's a good articles in this one.

Research this magazine a little better. It has pretty much been banned by gun owners for their position on civilians owning firearms. Their opinion is only LEO and military should own black rifles.

I believe the magazine you're speaking of is RECOIL.

Optimus. I am deployed overseas, any way that an electronic version can be set up? Would be great to buy online electronic version. Apart from the positives above have seen good comments on the mag on a few FB pages.
