well to me anyways. unlike some of ya'll i'm not made of cash and can buy 6 or 8 s&b's but i did take delivery or a brand new weaver tactical 3-15 emdr. skyler at swfa was awesome to deal with and was able to answer the dozen or so different questions i had and made suggestions that were actually in my price range instead of like most places i tried talking to.

anyways y'all have seen them but here's mine

now i just need to make a temp fix on my rear mount till i can send it off to get fixed the right way and go sight it in this weekend....i'm freaking excited

Re: got a real scope......

You got a good one. I have the 4-20X50 version and its been perfect. They are great scopes and have incredible glass for the price range.

Re: got a real scope......

so far from fondling and playing with it i think i'm gonna be really happy with it but damn this things weighs like 5 times what my old scope weighs....guess quality=some added weight

i was originally going to get the bushnell tactical 6-24 g2 reticle but after hearing about all the warranty issues with bushnell and deciding this rifle is going to mainly be my hunting rifle i wouldn't need all that magnification

Re: got a real scope......

Congrats on the scope I like mine, and yeah they are little tanks. Hopefully you can get your ring bases sorted out. Would be a shame to bend that scope tube.

Re: got a real scope......

looks like i have a temp fix worked out with the shimming and bedding i've done. now i just need to wait for the jb weld to cure to know for sure. with the way it was i mounted the lower rings and set the scope on them and there was no way it wouldn't bend the tube but now the rear is on the same plane as the front(atleast by eyeballing) and i just need to shim the sides just a hair. going to borrow a friends scope alignment kit and see what it tells me this weekend before i go shoot

Re: got a real scope......

If you had a 30mm tube of some sort (not the scope), you could ring it and that would get the two in line, tighten the front and bed the rear (which ever is more horizontal). Just a thought, but of course you know it must be properly repaired at some point.

Re: got a real scope......

What is it? Too dark and blurry for my IPhone to see... Is it NF?

Edit: oh wait me thinks I can make out Weaver on the box?

Re: got a real scope......

yes it's a weaver tactical 3-15......as the original post says.....

roggom i'm talking to a smith here on the hide now through pm's right now looks like i'll be sending him my rifle after deer season

Re: got a real scope......

I had that scope and really regret selling it. I sold it to buy the SS 5-20 and now I wish I had 2 of the weavers. It really is a great scope, enjoy.

Re: got a real scope......

I was very close to getting that exact scope but opted for the SS 5-20. I was concerned about the max magnification... The Weaver looks like a great scope. Enjoy!

Re: got a real scope......

took it to the range today and shot the snot out of it. the eye relief was huge compared to what i was used to. my old scope you had to move it all the way to the rear and still lean into the scope to get a clear picture. this 1 i had to mount about an inch forward of where the old scope was and i could shoot it comfortably. think i should have gotten the next shorter set of rings. these are 1.075" with about 3/8" between the butler cap and the barrel so i'm thinking i should have gotten the .920" instead. oh well .155" can't make that much of a difference right? the tps mount does interfere with the bolt removal lever so i think i need to file just a hair off if it.

at first i was kinda thinking i should have gotten the 4-20 instead but i'm still happy i got the 3-15 for hunting purposes. finished mounting the scope at the range then started dialing it in. bore sighted it by pulling the bolt and looking down the tube and the reticle was exactly where it needed to be. first shot was 4" low and 2" left at 25 yards. dialed the adjustments and second shot was dead on. took it to 100 yards and first shot was 3" high and 1" left. made the adjustments and the second shot was dead on.

then i started screwing around using the reticle hold off's and man is that cool. this is my first mil reticle and not having to guess makes things so much easier. i could aim at the corner of the paper and put bullets in the bullseye of all 6 targets i had just using the reticle. didn't do a repeatability test since my local supplier was out of my bullets and i only had 20 left from my last range session so i'll do that next time.

anyways from a noobies standpoint i'd recommend this scope to anybody i know.....oh and i saw my first scope related mirage, it was a 100 degrees at the range according to my phone and very little wind so i got to watch it boil up and roll around everytime i turned the power up...neat stuff
