Whiny Norwegian mass murderer

Re: Whiny Norwegian mass murderer

That is unbelievable. I can't even think of a description of how stupid these people are for not putting this fellow in a 4'x4' room and feeding him on the floor.

Yeah, it's call EUROPE. /facepalm.

Re: Whiny Norwegian mass murderer

There's a LOT about that story that makes me ill....but most of all, his sentence. 21 years in prison for killing 77 people!!?!! That's their maximum sentence. ...jeebus

Re: Whiny Norwegian mass murderer

21yrs is a max sentence in Norway, but the state has the ability to hold someone indefinitely as long as they deem him a danger to others. So essentially a life sentence.

Re: Whiny Norwegian mass murderer

Son of a bitch, I haven't had a good belly laugh in a while. Prisoners are turning into a bunch of pansy ass mother fuckers these days.

Sled Dog is correct, I have no doubt that "he" will never walk free again, all right, to the point, when in custody, "he" had it fairly nice, training gear, computer, hired company, nice meals and some other perks, such that no other detainee has had before.

Norway has never before seen a mass murder like this.

A lot of how "he" was treated can be explained by the fact that no one wished for "him" to be able to mount a defence claiming inhumane treatment in custody, he did spend more than a year in "isolation" the only people he saw was his lawyers and the officers working at the custody.

Well now that he is sentenced and all, the werdict cannot be appealed, the state has made it clear to "him" that the treatment is the same for "him" as for the rest, no more, no less.

One can yip and make remarks about that however Norway as a state/people has managed to deal with a huge massmurder case without being even the least vindictive and or with less than a high standard of justice.

Re: Whiny Norwegian mass murderer

IMO, he is lucky they are even treating him to anything. If it were left up to me he would not be in a prison at all, he would be in front of a firing squad or something. That is half the problem with today's system, people do things and wind up getting a free place to stay, free meals, free books, free TV, etc. While I am sure it is not pleasant I have heard from some police officer buddies of mine that some inmates claim to do things on purpose because being in prison is better than being on the street. See in today's system there is no repercussion for doing wrong, really. This case here is a prime example. People might start thinking twice about doing crap if they had real punishment. You have to send the message and putting someone in a room with a cozy place to sleep, free TV, and all of that is not going to send a good message to not do something.

Re: Whiny Norwegian mass murderer

Only difference between here and Norway, is we would also be paying him Social Security and Disability benefits while he's locked up.

Re: Whiny Norwegian mass murderer

It is Norway not the US people aren't on the street. Whatever you want to say about their system I don't think that the government should be granted the right to kill its own citizens for any reason. I however would happy put a bullet in his head.

It breaks down to about 3 and a half months per each murder.

You might have a hard time selling that to some people here. And yet, despite your opposition to the state acting in the name of the people, you're up for some volunteer work.

While I do not necessarily condone this in most cases, when it is clear that he has done such an unspeakable act then I would not have a problem with it. I would not want it to happen to someone that might have the slightest hint of being innocent though. Mistakes happen in investigations all of the time. Sometimes the wrong people go to prison. It would be very sad for someone to go before a firing squad for a crime they did not commit, but this case is different. He was clearly guilty.

In regards to granting the government power to execute for crimes, you say we should not grant them that right, but we already do. The gov operates worldwide and takes care of business everyday. is it always right, I have no idea but it already happens? Case in point, Bin Laden comes to mind as one of the most recent. There are more you never hear about I am sure.

Re: Whiny Norwegian mass murderer

Bin Laden wasn't a US citizen for one thing. I don't object to military forces killing guys in combat. I just don't think that the once citizens have been detained the government should be allowed to kill them. I don't agree with the entire concept of a representational criminal justice system either. I am ok with this guy being killed but not with the government ordering it.

Re: Whiny Norwegian mass murderer

They should just pipe his head in and call it a day. And to keep things fair give the guy that did it 3.5 months in a climate controlled suite with TV and excersise equipment.
