I'll be posting the tentative course outline for the december match later this week. I'll send it out via email to everyone on the email list. Anyone who wants to get a copy, please send a short email saying something like "put me on the list" and I'll add you to the email list to get info on the practical rifle matches at Upper Nisqually.

So far, the matches have remained small (5-7 shooters) so they go pretty fast, and end up shooting 60-100 rounds per match. We have plenty of room for more shooters if anyone is thinking of attending.

The board at the club is considering ending, or modifying the program due to the low attendance. It is difficult to justify keeping everyone else off the range so that 5 of us can shoot for 6 hours or so. But so far, we still have the range reserved.

For anybody sitting on the fence about going to the matches at Nisqually get off of it and GO !

Its a great low key way to get some match practice in a friendly environment with everyone helping each other to improve. Its not about winning each month its about figuring out how you can become a better shooter.

I just got done shooting the FSC match in Ellensburg and ended up with a 6th place finish and I think I can honestly say part of the reason is because I've been able to practice at Unknowns matches here on our side of the mountains, So a big thanks to you for trying to keep this going !

Everyone come out and play on the 15th !

I like the idea of a 6.5''06 AI. I got rid of a 6.5 Leopard a year ago, and am trying to get it back. Its basically a 6.5 WSM, and evidently a barrel burner. I hear ya on the heavier bullets/recoil thing. Maybe with a better stock, I could handle that, but these days my shoulder's just not up to it.

For the m70 I just need a barrel, stock, a telescope, rings, 1k rounds of match ammo, and time away from the kids. What could go wrong?

Also looking at the Tikka T3, in that groovy W3 chassis, with the Bushnell DMR. THat oughta get me closer to competitive, cash wise, than putting the $ in the M1a.

Alan, I hope to make it down on the 15th, acually trimmed some Grendel cases, so I hope to get her down there and have some fun with her. Seeds, I am going to post a link that JasonK took the time to take off the PRS website, earlier I posted some stats from the Norcal match on what caliber folks were shooting and it surprised how much the 6.5's stood out with the 260 being a clear winner. I have to say this though, because of some constraints whether we like them or not, a short action magazine fed bolt action rifle is the way to go. If you are a reloader I highly suggest the 260 Rem because of the widespread availablity of quality brass and/or the ability to create some. If you are not a reloader there some very good sources for 260 ammo here on the Hide. I think the 6.5x47 is another great cartridge but really theres only one brass supplier for it, the 6.5 CM is another great round and I believe the perfect round for a semi, but again theres really only one brass source. Obviously there are other calibers out there that shooters use, but if you can afford to change barrels every 6-9 months have at it and the 243 shooting 115 dtacs, is really an awesome combination. With regards to stocks and scopes, that a lot of personal preference, I started shooting these matches with a rem 700 308 in a McMillan 40A1 with a fixed 16x scope, did alright but my scores really imporved when I changed to 260, whether that was because I had actually been back shooting for a while and/or the combination of the 260 been a little less forgiving. Theres been a lot of talk about sfp and ffp scopes as well, I prefer good glass over ffp and since my scope is only 4-14, I rarely need to dial back, some of the better shooters in this state simply use A 5.5-22 NXS, i havent seen it restrict their shooting abilities. Well I hope to see you out a Jakes match, a few of us may try to get over to E-Burg for a little practice in January if you are up for it.

FFP/SFP = focal plane.

That data is impressive. I was happy to see Bushnell up there on the list. Though it is a FFP, how is the quality of the glass?

Dates for the series of 6 tactical/ practical matches in the Wenatchee area:
2-10-13, 7-14-13, 8-18-13, 10-13-13, 11-17-13.
These matches will be hosted by the NCW gun club.
You will not need to be a member of the NCW gun club.
We will be doing a cash payout at the end of every match.
There will be a prize donated by Precision Tactical at each match to the RO's pick.
The idea behind these match's is to learn and as such there will be thinking involved on the shooters part :)
The overall series winner will have a paid spot in
the 2014 Findlay Cup.
OH, and Broker and Bigwheels, semi's,long action chambering, and 300 and 'smaller' magnums will be allowed in this series.
A speed limit of 3100 will be one of the very few equipment requirements.

Seeds, the only thing I would mention with regards to the data posted is as Scott has already mentioned, sponsorship plays a big part imho. Bushnell, Vortex, Bartlein, Gap, Surgeon are just a few who sponsor shooters with gear, I don't own any of the newer Bushnells, albeit a little pricey I dont hear any complaints.

I wish I could,the trigger on my rig took a giant poop. I was warned that jewell triggers were prone to this sort of thing but refused to listen.

I did try that first, followed by monkeying around with the sear engagement screw to no avail.I ended up taking it to Mike palazzo and decided to go ahead and have him glass bed my stock as well. Hopefully I will have it back by christmas.

I run the Bushnell DMR with the G2 reticle. I love it!! The glass is absolutely incredible. You will not be disappointed if you decide to go the DMR route. These are not your daddy's Bushnells. <-- That is what I tell people when they hear you have a Bushnell scope on a multi-thousand dollar rifle.

Keep me in the loop if you don't mind. I just got a new, replacement, scope from Bushnell. Gonna try and get to the local range to get zero'd tomorrow. Wouldn't mind getting up to Acme to play around a bit.

Good match today at Machias. No wind to speak of. There were three of us shooting any/any (scoped/sling). Top score was 599 with 36X...

It's a mix of guys as new people come and go. They capped it to begin with so as to see how it operates. If we can prove that we have enough interest I'm sure the club would be willing to allow more.

What all should I bring gear wise? Is this a throw a spare mag in your back pocket for the stage kind of thing, or do I need the "war" belt?

I'm planning on bringing my ar that's set up for 3 gun in 5.56 with a 1-4 power scope. Is this going to work for me? In the future, I would like to try shooting it with my .308 bolt gun, but I wont have time to build ammo this week.

This is a little exciting for me because I have never shot at anything farther than 300 yds. And to make it better, I haven't got to spend much time behind a rifle for a couple of years because of work. This should be "entertaining" lol

I would bring your rifle in case or pack, bipod, a couple magazines, sling, and good DOPE for out to 550 yards. a 1-4x will work, but if you have something with a little more magnification in the future it wouldn't hurt. After that just bring yourself and enthusiasm lol...

We are doing really well with people showing up for the match on the 15th, but can still get a couple more people in. Both Broker and I will give up our spots to get new folks in if necessary, but so far, there is room for everyone who has asked for a spot, Broker, and myself, and we still have room.

I don't have any problem taking 12 shooters if they want to show up as the club has been asking for more attendance. I think they would have a difficult time saying they want more attendance, then complaining if we have 2 more shooters than they thought.

So for anyone considering shooting, let me know...we can still get some in.

Anyone have any extra ATV tires?

I am looking for 9 inch rim tires for the back and 11 inch rim tires for the front.

Used is perfect. Just something that holds air!

This is for a 4 wheeler that the ranch owns, I just noticed the tires are bald as can be. Thought it would be nice to replace them for the ranch!

Just a reminder that any new shooters at Upper Nisqually's practical rifle must attend the one time safety briefing and orientation that begins at 08:30 AM the day of the match. Please bring an extra 12 rounds for the orientation, and 65 rounds with NON MAGNETIC BULLETS for the match. We check all ammo with a magnet before the match just to be safe.

I'm in panic mode. Does anyone know where I can locally find decently priced .308 ammo in 168 or 175? My order didn't ship out until this morning I'm pretty sure it won't make it in time.

I'm going up to Acme tomorrow, & probably Sat as well. The weather on Sat is calling for showers before noon, & then rain with winds increasing from 8mph to 15+mph after noon. I'll bring my awning, & possibly a couple more if Joe, & Tibor come up as well. There may be snow up there, or just above there too. I'll post up more tomorrow evening when I get back, & confirm for Sat.

Well. It was a great day for shooting...Until we got the targets set up. Then the fog rolled in for a while. It cleared for a few minutes, long enough to get 2 shots off. Then it fogged up again, & started snowing.(There was 2-3" up there already.) Then it cleared up again when we were taking down the targets just before dark.
But we're going to try again tomorrow even tho its calling for rain, & snow in the am, & winds up to almost 20mph. Welcome to shooting in Wa.

I'm shooting 175 sierra match kings, are the magnetic or non magnetic?
