Reports that an AR15 was used.

Guess all of us normal, law-abiding citizens should start stocking up on mags as this is only going to fuel the "gun debate" further.

Yeah I live just outside Portland 30 minutes from Clackamas Town Center. News is saying he was wearing body armor and a hockey mask. They are saying shooter has been neutralized and 1 dead as of know. Witness said they say two face down on his way out of the mall. Just more ammo for all the anti-gun fanatics.

No really these kinds of acts are horrible. The past few years more media coverage on these acts help provide the fuel to burn the 2nd amendment away. I hope those hurt in this act recover quickly and god bless the victims who passed.

This is horrible, my wife and I shop there often. I guess they forgot to tell the shooter the mall is a gun free zone!

What is wrong with our society? This is a problem that I see no end. Guns or not this is going to continue. With a continued disregard for your neighbor and life. Heck we had a 7 and 11 year old try and carjack a lady this weekend with a gun. The gun came form the father that was a felon!

Criminals will never obey any laws!

My daughter lives at that Mall, (in Happy Valley anyway), I just called to check on her. Sure enough she was in some pet store with some of her dogs (she has 7). Took her two hours got get out of that Mall.

She confessed her gun was left in the car.

Of course she gets her ass chewed by her daddy.

Glad she is okay. My wife quizzes me all the time about carrying in our mall and stores. Bad things happen to good people all the time. I'm especially watchful during the holidays.

I was at the Chipotle about 50 yards from the Macy's entrance the gunman supposedly used. Missed him by about 5 minutes.

Dad happened to be in the food court at the time of the shooting. Just like kraigWY's daughter, he left his handgun in the car. I think he learned his lesson.

We just had a training exercise regarding an Active Shooter situation at our local community college just this morning. I am a hop, skip, and a very long jump from Portland, but still, this state is my home.

My prayers go out to the families of the wounded, injured, and murdered. God be with them, and also with you.

Located next to the exterior door of any indoor retail mall is a placard that gives notice of: private property, rules of the premises, and conspicuously posts words to the effect of 'no firearms or weapons allowed'.


In Oregon it is not a criminal offense to carry on private property. If you are somehow 'made', you will be asked leave and should you say anything other than "I'm very sorry about that, I did not notice the sign on my way in, please inform me where the nearest exit is such that I may leave the premises". You open yourself up to criminal trespass -> potentially a problem with your CHL. Know the laws of your state.


Public place shootings and even a Beslan style event are just one of the bad things that can happen that everyone should be mindful of every time they step outside the door. You should also think about certain potential aspects of such events when considering your training, your EDC, support gear in the vehicle, as well as emergency communications with local loved ones and friends.

Shit pisses me off.

I was just there on Sunday with my wife, and we stopped in the food court to grab something. I kept feeling really uncomfortable and kinda paranoid. I was indeed carrying and just kept having thoughts of how I would react if someone pulled out a gun. I'm not paranoid or screwed up from PTSD or some crap, just didn't have a good feeling. So shitty this happened.

If any good can come from any of this, hopefully more people will carry more often. Is there any news on how the gunman got dead? The articles I read made it a point to say that such information had not been released. Made me wonder if a citizen didn't put him down with a CCW.

I would bet good money that the "body armor" is just a vest with pockets and shit.... Of course it is likely that I'd lose that bet.

If you say that there is something systemically wrong with society you are po pooed as a weenie.

No church anymore, no traditional family structure, a growing number of kids desensitized by entertainment violence and that so many drugs that the tweekers blur the lines between Call of Duty and reality.

Call me a weenie. I dont think it will be getting better any time soon.

The mistake the neutrals will make is to think that they will be safer by taking away the rights of the law abiding. What they should be doing is taking responsibility for themselves and get some firearms training or consider a real active shooter plan.
