I can help you out with a drop chart, but don't have any shooting areas with the requirements you list. Let me know if you want some help, and I'll tell you what info I need to generate the chart. There are programs (Shooter) for Iphones that can generate this info if that helps. Lot of the locals use these programs to generate drop charts, and they work out really well.

Kevin this is the best way to get really good load dope on known distances beyond 550 and we can really narrow down your FPS to within 10-20.

Is there a good place out there to re-zero at 100 yards? I just got the barrel back from the gunsmith (cut and threaded for my new TBAC 30P-1) so I just put it all back together and need to zero again.

You can march out 100 yards and set up something like a paper plate to shoot.

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

Are we meeting up at the AM/PM in Sedro Woolley, or meeting up at the shooting spot at 9?

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

I can't make Acme this weekend.

When is the next trip to UNSC outside of a match? I need to re-establish my DOPE (Date On Previous Engagement) book information. If anyone has a schedule of when they plan to be there, I'd appreciate it. I bought some new glass and need to get accurate information.

Also, I bought the Alpha Mags for my 7mm WSM that this forum recommended. They are cheap, flimsy, poorly made things, but...they fit, they hold 9 rounds and they look like they will to the job. I hope they survive being dropped to the ground empty.

I'm looking forward to shooting another match and not having to pull a round out of my pocket for each shot.

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

I recently found some medium brown, and some black sling webbing, along with some slider buckles as used on 1.5 inch military slings, and bought some extra. The sliders are the same black polymer as the plug in attaching buckles. I have a few extra 2 piece attaching buckles and sliders in addition to the webbing.

Pm me if anyone needs any. 25 cents per foot for webbing, and 25 cents per slider.

I could use a trip to nisqually as I want to swap scopes between a couple of rifles, and don't want to swap them and have the rifles sit unzeroed for weeks after the swap. I am a member there, so Im, or pm me and we can work out a time to meet there. They charge guests $10 per rifle to shoot. I have a huge stack of targets, so don't buy any targets.

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

I'm not going to make it to Acme this weekend either. I need to finish my second round of ladder test on my .308 at Nisqually and re-zero my 5.56 for my new loads and get some dope out to 500. I'll be at UNSC around 10am Saturday if you guys want to meet there, and it's only $10 a day for visitors now, not per rifle anymore.

I might be able to make it Saturday. Been trying to replace my middle sons car, he totaled one in Dec. Thought I was going to go up to B.C. Saturday but just located what he's looking for locally.

Hello Folks,

Im new to long range precision shooting but a long time lurker on SH and on the Puget Sound Shooters Group forum.

Looking forward to meeting some of you in person in the future at the local ranges or the honey hole meet ups and gleaning more understanding about the craft we all enjoy...

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

Space-one,
Welcome. I think you will enjoy the group here.

I can not make acme on Saturday, but plan on meeting kman2061 at nisqually to shoot.

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

Good evening Gentlemen, I'm have been a SH member for sometime but i just found this thread and it is awesome, and would love to get out and shot with some fellow members, just finished a budget R700 build 6months ago and still need to break her in and learn more about the long distance shooting, and am having trouble find long distance ranges. I am currently stationed in Seattle with the Cost Guard.

Welcome Mike. We're having a small impromptu get-together tomorrow up in Acme which is an hour or so North of you. We have ranges between 100-1250 there to shoot to. If you're interested in joining us let me know and I'll pm you the info where to meet me to follow me up to the shooting location.

Attention All Members of The Upper Nisqually Sportsman's Club

As you may or may not have seen in an email sent by the club back on the 18th, there is a special meeting this coming Monday that starts at 7:00pm regarding a vote to remove Roger Stiller as the UNSC Range Officer. I will be at that meeting and I'm asking all who attend the matches as well as any members who just lurk here to attend and support his removal. Without going over every last detail, this idiot is the reason we can't ever shoot at steel targets outside of matches. He has acted unprofessionally and used his position within the club to restrict our discipline as well as bad mouth others within our discipline for no reason other then he was asked to do his job in a timely manner. He is our biggest and main opponent to our monthly matches and rather than attend and actually see what it is we do he goes to meetings and makes wrongful claims that we're unsafe. Example: This moron believes it is safer to shoot at clay pigeons and rocks on a berm than it is to shoot at AR500 steel targets.

I have ZERO respect for this guy and frankly every time I've had to deal with this weasel at a meeting he's proven his incompetency time and time again. At the last bout he even admitted that a requirement he stated to me prior that he claimed was a "by-law" was in FACT not a by-law wasting literally 6 hours of my time. He is the main reason we can't shoot at metal targets, and he is another example of a useless idiot who took a position simply to use it for his personal agenda and not in the best interest of the club.

If you guys want the ability to be able to shoot at metal outside of a match then we need to remove this idiot from office.

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

A suggestion for the UNSC meeting:

I'm not a member of the club but I WILL JOIN if this guy leaves (also if they waive that stupid initiation fee which IMHO is unjustified) as part of the deal. That stupid initiation fee could be waived for just this one time for all others who are with me on this plan.

Money talks, emotion and/or opinion against this guy may do nothing. People get whacky around taking a job away from someone, especially in this economy. Also, he may be connected in ways nobody knows to other members that keep him in that job. Just pointing out he is an idiot is probably not a great surprise to them.

Bottom line, if I'm willing to pony up cash and others on the hide like me are also willing, we have a voice that a poor club like UNSC will hear.

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

It's a non-payed position I believe. And I can assure you that initiation fee is standard practice amongst ranges. They have one of the lowest around actually.

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

Broker- Thank you so much for the invite but I am on duty for the weekend. But I would love any oppertunity in the future.

I'll try to make it there for the vote, no promises though since I do have to work.

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

I don't if this has been posted on here before, but i just found out that the kettle falls crew are building some moving targets that are now for sale. Please forward this to anyone/range that you think might be interested!! I have shot this system multiple times and it is durable and great fun/practice!!

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

I got an answer, and at around $5000.00,those high end units are a wee bit beyond the budget of the rifle program at Nisqually...at least for the next decade or so. Very cool setup though.

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

I'm looking to go to UNSC to get my new glass up and ready to go (Bushnell XRS 4.5x30x50 G2DMR fresh from George at GA Precision). I'll be shooting 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 and 540 to get accurate drop calculations. If any UNSC member is interested in some shooting Saturday or Sunday, please PM me for a phone number and we can work out a time. I takes me about 1:45 to drive to UNSC from West Seattle, so hopefully nobody wants to be there at 8 AM.

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

I was planning on heading up to UNSC on Sunday to finish some load development, re-zero another rifle, chrono a few different things, maybe shoot some pistols and generally have a bad-ass day. Your more than welcome to meet me there and I'll sign you in. I plan on being there around 10am. PM sent with phone number.

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

You going to have the elevation to reach out for the 1950yd target now?

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

It looks like we have a 10AM plan for UNSC Sunday - I'm in. I'm sure there is room for more..

@Bigwheels: heck yes. I finally have the vertical travel to keep up with your Nightforce.

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

Well then we'll have to get up there, & stretch that thing out soon.

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

Is Bushnell offering the 4.5-30x50 with a G2DMR reticle now? I looked into one last year but could only find it in a mil-dot config. Have fun this weekend!

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

Sorry guys. Sometimes no matter how well you plan it, you get hosed. My work called and my weekend is more or less gone.

I can't make Sunday now. This was not expected, but stuff breaks and I have to fix it. The new Bushnell is going to have to wait

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

Yup. Just one more reason why I'm moving to Tx, & Az in the next few months. Maybe sooner.

Re: Puget Sound Area Shooter's Group

So you better be really sure who you sell firearms to.

I wonder if gifts come under this too? "He gave me a nice ripe orange, and I was so excited about getting a fresh piece of fruit that I gave him a rifle to show my gratitude." It wasn't a trade, it was a gift...

Another idea would be long term loans, or leases that aren't in the bill.

It's still a transfer of the firearm and likely subject to the law.
