In 1961 Dad enslisted in the Marine Corps and was issued this M1 Garand. A Springfield Armory M1 Serial Number 1380819. Dad has been looking for it for over 50 years. I found it and purchased it from the Civilian Marksmanship Program in secret. It was a One in Six Millon chance to find it. I found it only fitting that a U.S. Marine should give it back to Dad. I love you Dad.

That is excellent!

I have a Garand and I would gladly give it to a Soldier or Marine to whom it was issued to but......it would be cool to be able to go to a registry look it up.

Have a friend tell me he bought/ordered a rifle and on the ride home he looks over at the box and sees his SS# stamped on the box. H said he thought why did they stamp his SS# number on the box. Turns out it was the serial number of the rifle. Most have been meet to be.
