Hey guys im new here and was looking for some feedback. Im looking to build my first long range gun. Looking at the ax aics chassis. Anyone have experiencd with this system. Also what are some good recs fod the rest of ghd gun? I was looking a shilens packages. Looking for the gun to shoot very well at 1000 yards. Thanks for the help in advance.

I'm in the same boat wanting to know about the ax platform. But I took a leap of faith and bought the chassis and am having the guys at nwactions build me a 300 WinMag to stick in it ill remember to post up picks in 12 weeks when it gets back.

If you can afford it, I would highly recomend just getting an AW or AE. It is more money up front, but you will never regret the investment and you will never be disappointed in their performance. That said, the AICS systems are very good. I shot a friends and really like the feel and quality of the chassis. I am currently building a new rifle on one of the Savage 2.0 AICS systems.

I posted a thread also about the std AI chassis vs the AX. Hopefully some good insight will show. Im torn on which to use for my .338lm build....

Get the AI/AW/AX and run with it. It may cost quite a bit from the start, but it will save you money in the long run. And if you do go this route, I have a 308 bbl I'll sell ya :D

I have three builds in AICS 2 chassis and have been very happy with all of them. That said I have been kicking around the idea of moving one of them over to an AX but it will NOT be my 338LM. There is no AX chassis currently available to take the 338LM and although it is possible to modify the 300WM chassis and mags to run 338LM I doubt I would go that route. There is also the question of getting whatever 338LM action you have to fit that chassis as well.

Now for either my .308 or 6.5x47 rifles I may still at some point move one over but seeing as how both are running Stiller TAC30 AW actions and I can use the AW mags other than the "cool" factor there is not much making me want to go there yet. On top of that because of the railed front chassis I would need to buy higher rings which I am not thrilled about either and the likelihood of me running NV any time soon is pretty limited so I don't see a need for the rails. I can always add an IMUNS to the AICS 2 if I needed too.

Have fun with the build, it is kind of like Lays potato chips - bet you can't build just one!

Just called and a site vendor has the AI ax chassis in stock for a .338LM....why wouldnt it work?
