So I was unscrewing my can (30P-1) today and saw this.

Anybody ever seen this much build up before? I've never really noticed it before but then again I don't usually look inside it either. This is on a .243 27" 1/8 twist Brux running 105 Amax @ 3050 FPS with H1000 if anybody wants to know. Can has about 2500 rounds if rifle only rounds ranging from .243, .308, 22-250, and .300 WM with the .243 being 1800 rounds of it.

We've noticed that some loads or powders tend to leave more carbon buildup than others. My own demo/match 30P-1 has less than that, but we saw a 338P-1 with a huge amount of fouling compared to the others and the only variable was the load.

Throw it in the ultrasonic cleaner or use vinegar+peroxide, or we'd be happy to do it for you.

Enjoy!

:)

Man Zak Smith you are on it for sure. Best customer care around for sure. I guess I'll do the dip and clean some of that crap out. How long do you need to dip it for?

You can leave it in there for a day, just be very careful with the chemicals that come out because they contain lead acetate.

Roger that Zak. Gloves and all the necessary PPE will be used.

Papa Zero, what is Fire clean? Just a cleaning solution or something you spray in the can before using to prevent build up?

FireClean is a Cleaner, Lubricant, Protectant. In short , it's like a teflon coating for your weapons and cans, carbon wipes off with a towel. A link to their website cand be found HERE

Here is a video of it after 400 rounds in 15 minutes out of a 249

Thats great sdo how do you use it with a can? Explain.

I am assuming you are asking how do you use it if your can is sealed and cannot be disassembled?

Well I haven't had much time to look at the stuff but if it is a spray then I guess I would just spray it in from the threaded end. Is there a better way or is it not a spray?

It's not a spray and a little goes a long way. You could use a small spray bottle or you can use the long cotton swabs with wooden stick. I'd imagine a piece of soaked cloth/t-shirt could also be pulled through to do it quickly.

Cool thanks for the info. I really like the idea of the stuff if it works as good as it looks like it does.
