Took my new chronograph out today and tested 2 different powders in my 6 Creed, RE17 & H4350, got some pretty decent groups, mild to no wind helped that, I'm sure. All these groups were shot at 300yds.
1st load was 41.2grs RE17, AV 3122fps, SD 29 group size-.914"
2nd load was 41.4grs RE17, AV 3125fps, SD 9 group size .914", but that was 4 shots.
4th load was 41.5grs H4350, AV 3104, SD 13, group size 1.120"
5th load was 41.9grs H4350, AV 3136fps, SD 9, group size 1.142", with 4 of the 5 going .402"
7th & 8th are the same as 5th load and can be seen on the same target, loaded those 10 shots at the range as verifying test loads, unfortunately they werent as accurate as that 4 shot group in the original 41.9grs H4350. 3rd & 6th groups were left out cuz they didnt cut the mustard.
Any thoughts where I should proceed from here? My thoughts are to try 41.3grs RE17 & load more of the 41.5grs H4350, please gimme your thoughts.

I like the 5/7/8 load, seems the least vertical and possibly the wind gave the majority of horizontal.

Good groups. I'd personally run with H4350. Are you focusing on the reticle and removing as much Parallax as possible? Bipod?

Im focusing as much as I can on that reticle, and the range where there is no parallax and then you have it is very slim so Im pretty sure Ive got that good. Im shooting with this set up Papa.

start messing with seating depth on #5. See what that does for you.....

7 & 8 are the same as load 5, they're all about .020" off the lands. Would you go deeper or closer? Brad from Hornady mentioned .010" off, I can try that.

I would start with it touching then back it off ten thou at a time and see what that does for ya. If you can seat a bunch of bullets that are touching and take your press and seating die to the range with you. That way you can shoot and re-seat bullets right on the spot. Then if you find a sweet spot, you can seat the rest of the bullets to that length and be done with it.

Split the difference and go 41.3gr and leave it be. Thats a decent group at 300 yards.
Might try playing with seating depth next depending on the bullet you run.

You think that messing with the seating depth will get me a better group than those 4 shots in the 5th group? These were all shot at 300yds, btw and those 4 measure .402", the 4 shots in that 7th group measure .750", and the vertical in the 8th group is about .25moa.
I will seat some just off the lands, 010" off, .020" off, etc etc. just to see if something happens even better, just hope to get a nice day to shoot them.

It could get better, but you wont know if you dont try...

OK, Right now measuring from the ogive Im getting 2.248" using a fireformed 250 brass that is slightly sized so I can push the bullet in with my fingers and when I chamber the round the lands push it in the rest of the way, there are land marks on the bullet so Im thinking the bullet is just into the lands maybe .005", so I think I'll seat some to 2.240" and go from there, sound good?

Learn something new everyday, here I thought I was off the lands and after chambering a loaded round today I could clearly see land marks, actually had to seat the bullets .037" more to get .010" off the lands. So Im at 2.703" oal, 2.203" from the ogive. Here we go again, more testing!!

Thats a good place to start. Let me know how it works for ya.

I imagine the Hybrids Ive tested are into the lands as well, those measured 2.836" oal,(Used a fireformed 250 piece of brass with a loose neck). When I chambered that 250 brass the bullet gets pushed in from the lands but the neck obviously has more tension than I thought and it gets pushed into the lands as well, in the case of the Hornady bullet about .035", so, the Hybrid might still be kissing the lands at 2.800". Off the the basement, Batman!!
