**POSTPONED **South Dakota Fall Long Range Match / Run & Gun 2013

LONG RANGE MATCH
This is a 2 stage match, with targets out past 1200 Yards. Targets are reactive steel, the shooter will have to acquire the targets, make adjustments and fire within the stage's time limit. Guns must be .338 Lapua or under and less than 3400fps. Shooters should expect to shoot Prone most of the time, it is possible that shooters will be asked to take a few shoots Kneeling or Off Hand. Bipods and Sticks are allowed. 50 Rounds required. Limited to 30 Shooters.

RUN & GUN

This tactical rifle / pistol course is a fast paced 3D stage scored on hits and time. Speed and Accuracy is the name of the game. Targets included Silhouette Targets, Poppers, Swingers, Plate Racks, Spring Loaded Plates as well as some IDPA targets. Rifles must be no larger than 30-06. No rifle caliber pistols or 5.7x28mm. NO AP or TRACER ammo. Shooters should bring 120 rounds of Rifle Ammo and 75 rounds of Pistol Ammo as well as enough magazines and the proper gear to carry the above rounds with them though the course. Bipods and Sticks are allowed. Limited to 30 Shooters.

Cost is $60 for 1 match $100 for both. Lunch is included.

So .338 Lapua is fair game for this or not? What is the max distance for the long range match? Says 1200 plus but a max distance would be helpful. I can do 1200 with the .243 but if the majority of the targets are 1200 and beyond then I need to up the caliber.

What is it with you guys all having these awesome nasty steel killers, 338 lapua - 338 allen ....even the hand guns are hard on the steel. Most the targets are inside 1200.

lol ok well then I think the .243 will work then. .338 Lapua isn't a steel killer, just a target stand killer. Likes to knock over even the most sturdy ones a closer ranges.

Must be some sub par targets haven't had my win mag knock any over inside of 200 with a 200 gr match king at 3200they cytac on the other hand puts holes through AR at 700 with a smk

You should be fine when you get here, most of the targets are hung other than the self resetting targets.

Oh yeah that was actually one rod built way before we started putting on a shoot. But you were the firt one to knock it over

After talking with a few guys about steel targets and the 338 rifles we have made a small change to the requirements. Rather than outlawing the .338s we are going to change the rules to let .338 Lapua and under rifles in the match. Sorry for any confusion, we where trying to keep the targets from getting to torn up. I think if we stay at 338 lapua and under we should be fine and we don't want to shut the 338 guys out either.

I found a guy in Rapid that has a CNC laser etching machine. Glass , Wood, Marble... It will etch them all, very cool. That bottle took less than 2 minutes to etch.

Got the invitation, I don't think I can make it. Just getting back from Alaska on the 3rd. Sure had fun at Draper, though. I haven't shot my 7 since then, I am pretty much focused on my hunting gun now. I wish I could make it, thanks for the invite. Hopefully next year.
