Here's some great info when mounting a scope: HERE

As for torque on the rings I wouldn't go no more than 15 in/lbs, and 65 in/lbs on the base, even though Burris recommends 20 in/lbs on their XTR rings which I'm guessing you have.

Hope this helps,
Mike

Re: Falcon Menace 5.5-25x50 FFP [pic heavy]

Spoke with Matt at Wonders Optics today. He did say that the EMD reticle is thinner that the ML16. But that made it extremely hard for some to pick it up at low power. To me, this is where the solid stadia come into play. Perhaps add one of these for close up work... TNVC's SAR

Hmm.... A Falcon 5.5-25 in my future?

To you guys that own one (I may have missed this); have any of you really wrung the knobs? Does it return to zero? Does it track reliably? I'm very interested in field results.

Inquiring minds need to know.

lol ..ho hum.. </div></div>

I did the same thing, And ya i kinda wish now I would have got the EMD. If i get another I will get the EMD. I find myself using the scope at higher power most of the time, so i need something a little less cluttered.

Found one picture of EMD in higher resolution from one guy here in Czech Republic, so now it will be much clearly visible

For compare I put it to the same size like previous pictures

That's a very helpful picture. Thanks. I think I could work with that reticle.

Re: Falcon Menace 5.5-25x50 FFP [pic heavy]

I'm looking to mount a FM 5.5-25x50 (don't have it in hand yet) in a 1-piece AR flattop mount, but the extra width of the turret area poses some issues with some spacing.

Could someone please provide the measurement of the 'turret block' length?

Re: Falcon Menace 5.5-25x50 FFP [pic heavy]

I bought a 4.5-18X56 and I like it but the eye relief changes at different magnifications. On the lowest magnification the eye relief is the longest and on highest magnification it's almost too short. These don't have that problem do they?

Re: Falcon Menace 5.5-25x50 FFP [pic heavy]

this thread is definitely relevant to my interests lol.

i have been waiting to see some good info about this scope. this will be going on m700 5r when i get the spare cash. not sure what height rings to use yet but I will be going with the 50mm version and not the 56mm.

anyone else in this thread have pics of their scopes mounted?

Re: Falcon Menace 5.5-25x50 FFP [pic heavy]

I ordered the 5-25x50 with the ML16 reticle from Optics Warehouse on Dec. 17th. It should be here around the 28th or 29th of Dec. I called Seekins Precision and they said the medium rings should work fine with my M24/M40 barrel contour. With tax and shipping from the UK, I paid $514.21. I plan to do a tracking test when I get it and hopefully post pictures even though I'm still new to long range shooting. Maybe I can add some more info. for you guys who still are not sure about buying one. It was the best scope I could find that had a mil hash reticle, mil knobs, FFP and high magnification in somewhat compact size. One thing I would like to know is what size Butler Creek caps work best on the scope? I haven't seen that listed anywhere, even though it is posted for their other scopes on the Optics Warehouse site.

Re: Falcon Menace 5.5-25x50 FFP [pic heavy]

how many mil of adjustments up/down and windage do that have?

Re: Falcon Menace 5.5-25x50 FFP [pic heavy]

I am also interesting to buy this scope after the New Year. Any update?

Re: Falcon Menace 5.5-25x50 FFP [pic heavy]

Anyone bought Butler Creek Caps for this scope? If so, what are the sizes?

I am waiting on mine to arrive next week hopefully.

Re: Falcon Menace 5.5-25x50 FFP [pic heavy]

19 eye and 44 obj. I got the 43 and it was way too tight even after boiling in water and fitting.

Re: Falcon Menace 5.5-25x50 FFP [pic heavy]

I received my scope today, have it mounted and will try to get it zeroed this weekend. So far I have no complaints.

Re: Falcon Menace 5.5-25x50 FFP [pic heavy]

great post. Looking to get one of these scopes here soon.

Re: Falcon Menace 5.5-25x50 FFP [pic heavy]

I ordered 19 eye and 44 Obj and the 44 is just slightly too big. Had to wrap electrical tape 2-3 times around the objective to fit it.

I have to confirm what mluning said.

I bought also size 43 and it is way too tight. I am unable to drive objective end into cap completely.
I'd rather go with the bigger one and tape it a few times...

Maybe the some of the "multi-flex" product line would suit better the specific bell size...?

I bought the same scope for my OBR 7.62 while I was waiting on my USO. The Falcon served me very well.

Seriously? This is supposedly a serious tactical marksmanship forum and we are debating a $100 USD scope as a serious optic?..
