Anybody besides me shooting this bullet? Any experiences to report?

130 or so retumbo.. give or take 3000 fps. Both Jamison and Bartram brass. Sub MOA.

However, I cannot get any of the ballistic programs to equal the actuals. And this sucks.

Re: 375 CheyTac, 350 grain Sierra...

VERY GOOD COMBINATION. WHAT INFO DO YOU NEED?

Re: 375 CheyTac, 350 grain Sierra...

bill, post up your actuals and we will play with the program... might have good luck running a G7 bc instead of G1.

g1 bc's from sierra

.805 @ 2,200 fps and above
.780 between 1,700 and 2,200 fps
.720 @ 1,700 fps and below

a quick jab on the shooter app with multiple G1 bc's @ 3000 FPS muzle vel yeilded... come ups in MOA

100 - 0
200 - .75
300 - 2.5
400 - 4.5
500 - 6.75
600 - 9.25
700 - 11.75
800 - 14.5
900 - 17.5
1000 - 20.75
1760 - 55.75
2250 - 89.25 @ 1050 fps

Re: 375 CheyTac, 350 grain Sierra...

Good bullet to shoot as price is cheap but that particular bullet lacks BC to be super long range pill. Try Cutting Edge if you want to extend the range.

real come-ups... Data from two chronographs, both proven. Come up Actuals do not compute with any ballistic program. Have loadbase from patagonia and QuickTarget (version 1&2) from Quickload, Nightforce, Pejsa, and Horus Trag. And JWP6114 has been working shooter with me as well. Actuals
100-0
200-1
300-4
400-7
500-9
600-11
Its not a scope click issue, passed the box test more than once. This is a proven scope.
When hunting season leaves (Thursday.....), I will have actuals to 1200.

Just wondered if I was the only person with this problem. And to the poster who said cutting edge projectiles for ELR, thats next. But I still have a couple hundred jamison solids...
Right now, breaking in a new barrel. Which is a one ragged hole shooter with the sierras.

Some good advise if you wont to stretch the barrel but for cheap shooting the sierra is hard to beat.

Re: 375 CheyTac, 350 grain Sierra...

the only way to get thoes "realativley short rancge" actuals anywhere close (within .5 MOA) with the shooter app with the manufactures bc's is to run it with a MV of 2746fps,

some further distance dope would help, When true'ing a ballistic program it is said that you want to use midway, up to, and beyone the desired capability of a given cartridge to get the best data to true the BC.

most truing features will get you within about .5 or so MOA of your actuals, that equates to a first round hit out to about 1800 yards'ish on a man sized target.

Re: 375 CheyTac, 350 grain Sierra...

Mr. Huskey,
Is this the barrel i put on? Those numbers you posted seem about right for the speed, bullet type and elevation in the 375 cheytac. I would say the Cutting edge bullet will be better vs the cheytac solids. Another one to test is the Rocky Mountain, 350-370 grns. Give me a ring sometime.

Re: 375 CheyTac, 350 grain Sierra...

Yep...Sierra same here cheaper to shoot. I also shot the CE 350grs with 138 retumbo at 3225 fps 30" Lawton barrel. At 1300 yrds the charts show 25.7moa and I use 26 dead on at 50 degree. 1800 yards the chart calla for 44moa and I use 45.I shot tatical all the time 7mm Rem. 175 Sierra @200 yrds to 1050 all ballistic charts not close ??? have not a clue +- 1-3 moa's. For a 12" to 18 plate that's a big deal.We just shot and right in down on cheat sheet. Got a 60" base on the way and will test out to 3000 yards I hope with the help of the southwest Va boys.

My data,
350gn SMK, 3070 fps 133.3gn Retumbo COAL 4.200" Stiller 408 single shot action 32" lilja.
Sierra G1 banded BC works for me out to 1150 yards. Have not tried it further than this. Quite accurate!
Cutting Edge 350gn MTH L10 has a higher BC and follows the G7 profile very well out to 2350 yards. COAL 4.444" 131.5gn Retumbo 3070fps. Very accurate!
Rocky Mountain Bullets 375gn pill. 132gn Retumbo, COAL 4.223". 3070fps. Slightly higher BC than the CEB 350gn pill out to 1150 yards but BC drops off quickly at ELR.

I could give you my derived BC numbers for the CEB and Rocky bullets but that would be like telling you the plot to a good movie! I would hate to do that and spoil your fun........... LOL

thanks... I'll let you know my data soon....

this is mine, stiller with 7 rounds mag, Krieger 30", XLR chassis with a custom 45 MOA rail, today I'll mount a Premiere Reticle 5-25x56, next week I'll start to send some bullets downrange..

this is will be the new carry handle, just a little bit bigger

Really like that handle! That's really innovative & functional. I just bought Kyle's Noreen and that sucker is heavy! You thinking about marketing those things or just a labor of love for yourself?

Cheers,
Breeze

I'm anxious to finish the suppressor so I can try mine out. Looks nice sitting in the case, but nice groups would be even better.

Getting ready to order a 375 barrel and debating options. Plan to focus on long range with Cutting Edge, but will plink with SMK. Contemplating a 30". Any suggestions on twist and rifling? Thx.

Hey 1 Mile

Just wondering which chronograph you used
I am looking for a good one

Thanks

I've had the Chrony Master Beta for years and had good luck with it.

Thanks for asking....a chronograph is a must in our world.

Hold high and shoot straight !!!

Bad ass rig!! Can't wait to see some results! Please post some pics of the bullet!

Bill,
Did you ever get your B.C./Drop worked out? It looks like my load is going to come in at 133 gr Retumbo (Jamison, Fed215, SMK tipped to 1.760" then pointed) at around 3115.

Dan C. (Opelika)

Glad I found it to resurrect! I had done some digging and been unsuccessful at locating it myself. Taking my HTI out to a mile this weekend and I wanted my dope chart to be solid. The g1’s got me good cold bore hits at 1000, but a mile is another animal. My factory 10.5 twist isn’t fast enough for the Lazers, but I see a custom barrel in my future.

Can't believe I started this thread in 2013... :- ) .

Can't help with the 400 lasers at all. My 10 twist wont go there.

But, to answer my original question, the pointed 350 Sierra at 2950, bc .850, one mile, 55 minutes. Repeatable. And "Shooter" has put me on each trip.

Current 375 status, Dave Viers barrel is still well sub moa. I LOVE this rifle and caliber. Sold the .50.......

Rebuilding the 338 Xtreme into a faster twist 375. Looking forward to watching this post... :- )

Hi,

@longrangers
Are you changing the case dimensions or specifications for the 375CT you intend to build?

@j-huskey
The wildcats based on the BMG case/boltface are making a big comeback with the improvements in projectile designs and barrel makers more willing to "play" with rifling profiles for us. :)

Sincerely,
Theis

Rgr, talked a bit with Dan Warner about their 2 mile experiment and Tod Lit (nightforce) about theirs. Not ready to go back there (50 brass)(my 50 is still close enough by that it's still "like" mine, new owner found the brass PITA, and why I bought loaded ammo... :- l ).
Broke neck makes some of the bigger stuff just not fun...
But, staying in the game.

Hi,

LOL yea the BMG case work for some of the wildcats coming about and being tested requires more patience and time than it would take to get a LSU and Bama fan to agree to ride in a single cab truck from Florida to Alaska.

Sincerely,
Theis

Theis I have a .375 allen magnum 1/10 twist and have been shooting the .375 350smk at 3300fps with sd's of 4 with 148 grains of retumbo or h1000. My issue is with the brass and making more of it out of peterson's stuff. I'm not a big fan of wildcatting, as I like to keep things as simple as possible. I think ideally when it's time to rebarrel i'd like to try and make it simpler with .375 peterson brass necked down to .338. I think flinging the 285gr hornady eld anywhere from 3100 to 3300 fps would be pretty amazing.

Hi,

@schmi015
I am right there with you in regards to not liking to deal with all the prep and work for "wildcatting" but it is a necessary evil; well at least until a final version of the case is done. Then one can go to manufacturer and have proper brass come off the machine.

The Peterson 375 brass necked down to 338 is definitely easier than the AM wildcatting IMO.
Any reason you mentioned the 285gr ELD instead of one of the monolithics? Expansion is critical for you?

Sincerely,
Theis

Expansion for long range hunting, cross canyon shots on elk or bear. Anything that gets hit with a 350 or 400 grain bullet usually dies anyway but some states require bullets that expand and one must be ethical. Pretty comfortable out to 800yds with my wind calling abilities. I feel that if i can go 10/10 on an 8 inch ar500 steel circle with a given rifle 500yds and in i'm good. Ill take 9/10 after that out to 800. The BC with the .338 285 eld is currently superior to any other .338 lead core bullet out there right now. The cutting edge and lehigh have some interesting option but you're paying a premium with those.

Hello, i realize this is a rather old thread, but I'm extremely curious about the carry handle, how it's worked, and IF / WHO i can pay to get one!
Looks perfect! I also have an xlr chassis, but with a single feed action.

Well, I'll pile on by asking about the pic rail on top of the XLR chassis. It looks more substantial than the 11" rail that XLR offers. If it's different, where can I purchase one? Thanks.
