Suppressors Can someone who knows more than I expain this a little more in depth to me? NFA age?

Person to person form 4 transfer is ok to transferee 18 and over. Dealer to person form 4 transfer ok to transferee 21 and over. 1>1 and 1<1 but 1 does not = 1.

Would I be able to make my own suppressor under this rule and be ok? When it comes to all of the forms and transfers I really don't know anything. How do I go about getting the correct forms? Thanks

Distribution Center Order Form | ATF Order forms here.

Download the ATF form 1, print it out double sided, single sided will be rejected. Print out form 5330.20. Order NFA finger print cards. All forms are free.

The form 1 is filled out, signed by your local sheriff and sent in along with form 5330.20, two passport sized photos, finger prints and a check for $200. The check will be cashed in a few weeks and expect 6-8 months for approval. You will need to fill in the firearm made (silencer), include the caliber, length and make up a model name and serial number. Do not send plans or a drawing.

Do not make parts until you get the form back approved. There are videos on Youtube that show how to fill out the forms and make silencer parts. If you want to make changes to your finished silencer that involves new parts or lengthening the tube, then you must pay another $200 tax. An FFL/SOT class 2 can replace parts but not make repairs that make the silencer longer.

The silencer can be engraved by any means as long as the serial number is at least .003" deep and 1/16th of an inch high.

Keep in mind that many persons under the age of twenty one will probably have an issue with their local CLEO signing off on the Forms. If yours will then great.

Yes I understand that, right now that is one of my biggest concerns. I'll see how it goes!

Use a trust or LLC and avoid the CLEO. I think you only have to be 18 to transfer title in most states so you can be a trustee probably.
