So is this more of a year-long series? Or is each match a single event? I ask because it is now fall and I have not participated in the earlier events, but I would love to get in on this one. Thanks

Single event four times a year, but Jason tallies the scores at the end of the year for kicks. Doesn't matter when you jump in.

I'll give it a try this time, just read I don't need to be the top shot to win, now I'll have a chance!!! Cool

Honestly, I'm surprised more people don't jump in on STS. If you think about buying two targets (one CF one RF) at most you spend $8.80 (paypal). Two dollars goes to AmericanSnipers.org, who are a great group of guys working for free to make sure those in the field can get some needed supplies. The targets get you out to shoot, and helps hone your shooting skills, at least it does for me.

And if that wasn't enough, even if 100 people signed up (all buying one of each target) you would still have almost a 25% chance of winning a prize worth at least $20 and up to $900 more than what you paid. And that's only if everyone signs up for one of each target and if they get the time to shot and send them in.

Not much of a downside that I can see. Save yourself the trouble and just get a subscription (two rounds left for this year), then the targets just show up when it's time to shoot.

Our clan will be back for the outing of lead slingin and paper killin. Yes, this competition is a no brainer. It is beneficial to get family and friends out shooting, sharpening your basic skills, and having fun, and an awesome return on investment... no down side to it.

DK

Jason,
I sent my check out today. Can't wait to get the targets and give this a shot. Thanks

Funds are finally on their way to you. Looking forward to some more fun with the family and friends!! Thanks JB!!

My new Savage TR .22lr is on it's way to me now... hopefully this will step up my Rimfire game a bit!!

Doogie,

Well said, thanks ;) The subscription thing has worked out well for all I think!

Jason

No way thanks to you man for putting this all together and finding the sponsors etc.

Although that thanks diminishes some after this current round of shooting. In my defense I did shoot in a different state from the one in which I was zeroed. However, that doesn't explain my group sizes.

SHot this for the first time this fall and really enjoyed how it raised the stakes at the range. I picked up 4 targets to start, slowly improving each target I shoot.

I'll be becoming a subscriber.

_D

I killed it on the RF. I am pretty sure I got a wipeout along with one of the best groups I have ever shot. I am slowly improving on the CF. I shot two targets that are north of 200. Not winners, but I have now achieved over 200 in the centerfire in 3 consecutive matches, which is awesome for me.

I am even more proud of my score as my trigger was crudded up and I swear the pull was around 8 pounds. I didn't have any Ronsonol at the range with me. I cleaned it out when I got home and now it is back to 2 pounds or so. At least I know trigger control is not my problem, as I shot two of my best targets ever. For a while, I was thinking that the problem with my CF (relative to RF) is my trigger weight as my 22 has a really light trigger... about 6 ounces. Now I know the problem is something else in my technique.

Do confidence shots get bonus points for hitting smileys and/or being completely in the white?

Put my targets in the mail box sunday night, all I can say is that it was much more difficult than I thought it would be.

This was my first time shooting it and I didn't break 100 on either of my targets but I know I will be shooting most of not all of the future matches. I will also try to remember to request a rimfire target or two in the future.

Maybe if I'm lucky, I'll be able to win something and if I'm really lucky I'll win the Vortex PST, Manners Cert or a few hundred bullets. :)

Also, Just wanted to add: Thank you for putting this match on, it is a fun match, with great prizes, and helps American Snipers.

They say that the greater percentage of being able to shoot well is mental.

It must not be true.

I am such a mental case, no one should be close to me!!

hahahahaha

We finally got out to shoot ours... finally. We shot my new Savage TR, and it seems to like the lower velocity rounds alot better. This was a learning shoot to me more than anything. For centerfire, I only have my lightweight hunting rifle now, so we did the best we could. Match ammo was a plus, but it was still obvious that it was not from a target rifle by any means. Added to that, it was getting really dark out with the cloud cover, so most of our group didn't even finish all the targets due to not being able to detect the hits. Kinda funny though.

Oh well, lottery tickets they are... and thats all they are.

DK

My targets certainly weren't the best. But at least I got them submitted in time! Hopefully by the next comp my CZ 455 VPT will be ready to dominate!! (or at least do much better, lol)

Ben

Colorado does present an interesting set of conditions to deal with. Being from Texas, this is a whole different world of shooting for me!!

DK

My score is embarrassing but I'm felling lucky this time on the prize side. Good luck to all and happy paper punching.

Don't worry about being embarrassed, I have turned in a 0 point rimfire target before. You will have plenty company, regardless of where you end up.

DK

It is poor form to ask. Jason's got a lot of stuff on his plate. Be patient. It is a one man operation. He will post when he gets the chance.

I too, as probably all of us are, am waiting on the results. But not complaining as I realize it is something he does in addition to everything else he does.

I had some pretty poor scores and thought they were really bad but after looking at ALL the results for matches I found out there are lots of people that do poorly. and it was my first time shooting this match.

I'm not trying to complain, I understand he's got other things going and I know he puts all of this together himself. I really appreciate Jason putting this on, I only asked about results because this was my first time and I'm curious to see if I scored my targets correctly before sending them in.

This match is a great way to improve all of your basics. It will definitely bring all the bad stuff to the surface for sure. And you can't beat the entry fees!!

DK

I was pretty pleased for my first time shooting the match. I shot 3 targets and got better each time.

Thank you for the fun and quality practice. I'll be returning and already have my calendar marked to send funds for the winter shoot.

I think it would be interesting to see what rifles everyone shot these targets with! When My atlas bipod gets here I'll post some pics of my new rimfire gun!

Ben

Sounds cool to me!! All we have is hunting rifles for centerfire at the moment, but I have my Savage TR for the rimfire. Nice rifle, and it shoots pretty good as well. Hopefully we will be able to get our hands on some match ammo, and see what she is really capable of doing!!
