Bore guide for Surgeon Action

Fuck those Lucas bore guides. What a waste of money. Just get the white plastic ones from Sin Clair. Seriously...save your Monet man

Please tell me you're joking. If not, please explain a little more than just "save your money."

The Lucas bore guides are the way to go, they have an insert that fits tightly around the rod and then into the bore guide so the rod is centered in the bore. The Standard Sinclair is not much better than not using one as the rod still rubs the rifling. Sinclair now makes one like the Lucas with an insert. If you Surgeon has a .7--'' bolt a Rem 700 guide will work. SINCLAIR TWO PIECE CLEANING ROD GUIDES | Sinclair Intl

I have never seen any serious benchrest shooter ever use a Lucas bore guide. And they have no issues with cleaning rods damaging their match barrels.

How about you show me how your rifle gets cleaner, safer, with your fancy Lucas guide than me with my Sin Claire one? I'll bet you $500 that when both are done being cleaned, you won't be able to tell the fucking difference.

Wow I gues that explains that! To each their own I say It's your money spend it how YOU like and I'll do the same with mine:). I'm not going to say which one is best that's up to the Op to decide!

That is by far the worse logic for an argument I have read today. Who cares if you don't use it or "pro" shooters, if it helps and you want to buy it, what does it matter if the only conflicting interest is your opinion. I could see if you had some information that deemed it not a good product to use, but just going off your reply you could just say "Save your money, don't brush your teeth all the pro's don't."

Agree. It's like saying we should take our expensive golf club and hit a ball laying on a cart path or don't worry about snapping a shaft on a tree because Tiger Woods does it (even though he doesn't have to pay to replace the broken club). Just because pros do it...especially when it comes to maintenance, doesn't mean it's the way we should do it.

Dam I just shot my rifle and the groups opened up. I better go get a Lucas Bore Guide to shrink it back down. Surely my sinclair guide fucked my barrel up somehow. Lol. To each his own. My point is, its unnecessary to spend that kind of hard earned money on something as simple as a bore guide. No matter what guide you use, it aint gonna matter. Your barrel isnt going to notice the difference. Ive never heard or seen a serious shooter say "You have to have a Lucas bore guide, its the only way to clean a barrel correctly." Are corvettes necessary? No. A pinto will get you there as well. With the same results.

Are you mad about something? You seem to think that because some of us recommended a lucas bore guide we are saying that every other bore guide out there sucks. What kind of logic is that? I personally recommended the Lucas bore guide because that's the one I have and use for my Surgeon and it seems to be well made. I don't think it "tightens" up my groups. I'm sure the sinclair one, as well as others, work well too, but I haven't used them. The OP asked for a recommendation. You should have said "the sinclair bore guide works great" and left it at that instead of going on a rant for no obvious reason.

Edited to be less confrontational. Good day, gents.

Logic isn't your strong suit is it?

First off those Sinclair guides are a waste of money (yes, I've owned them) because they do not keep the rod off of the rifling at the throat at all. The rod just floats around and you might as well be using no guide at all and save $20.

The Lucas guide is a waste of money? It's $40 more than the Sinclair guide for a well made tool to use on a rifle that costs thousands. Were not exactly breaking the bank on the Lucas bore guide.

So you're telling us you drive a Pinto? Do you realize just how stupid you make yourself look?
