Just a heads up, a Wheeler AR vise will hold the reciever while doing a barrel change with no marks to upper. Best $23 bucks I ever spent. Works on RPR and all my AR's

First post. Just got my 308 RPR Friday. Read most of the last two threads over at Scout. Awesome info in here. Hope to get to shooting it soon. Even thinking of doing a shoot in two weeks just for fun.

^ Nice. I have the .308 as well. I'm sure you'll be very satisfied.

So I see you can get the 175 SMK's with a moly coating. Anyone ever use moly coated bullets? Notice much of a difference?

Well 1300 rounds down the factory barrel. The throat has grown to a point where I can't load in a mag and still be .020 off of the lands. The rifle still shoots sub-half moa though so I'm still staying with the factory 6.5CM barrel. How much life should I expect from this barrel....2,000, 2,500.... what say ye?

I used the Wheeler vice to swap out a .308 factory barrel to a6.5 factory barrel, and it worked great for me also. Now I have a RPR in .308 and 6.5

Lefty,
They were popular a few years back but I think some folks are concerned with the moly being left in the barrel and hard to clean out. Also something about trapping moisture under the coating and causing corrosion. Do a search on moly coated bullets before buying any.

Hey thanks for the heads up. I thought they might squeeze a little more velocity out of my 20" barrel, but I'll steer clear of them. It's nothing I really need anyway.

Love my .308. 44-44.5 gr Varget with 175 smk and it shoots great

My .308 has been all about Nosler, and still is out to 600. However, I'm using a very similar 175 SMK load that actually outshined Nosler at 1000

Wish I could give you some 1000 yd data, furthest opportunity I've had is 488.

I'm using the same load but with only 43.2 gr Varget. So if yours are grouping well at 488, I'd expect them to do just fine at 1000 as well.

Anyone one else with an opinion on the Timney triggers? The factory trigger isn't bad but I like the idea of not having the accutrigger type blade thing.

Just FYI if you do go the Timney route, the best price I've found is Anarchy Outdoors. It will show $219.99 , but if you put in rprtimneytribe all as one word, it will knock off $20.

howdy fellas, just picked up a gen2 rpr in 6.5 creed. can anyone help with ring height for a uso 5-25 with 58 objective

Higher the better seems to be the consensus. I have the NF Extreme High 1.5" on mine with a NF SHV with a 56 mm obj

Went out yesterday and shot the Nosler 168gr with their recommendation of 44gr Varget. They produced the same 1/2 MOA accuracy at 100 yards as my 42gr starter load, except I think these will do even better at 600 yards. Now I can save my 175gr SMK for 1000 yards

Picking up a Gen 1 308 this afternoon. I've read where most people are switching out the bolt shroud. Is that purely an aesthetic change or is there a performance/reliability enhancement?

For me it was aesthetic only

How are you liking the Timney? I love mine

Love my Timney! I like a very light trigger and have it dialed down to 12 oz. Much better than the stock trigger IMHO.

Haven't looked through a SWFA. Have to give it a try.

Just saying hi from Jacksonville, FL... Been waiting for my lgs to get RPRs in stock for almost a year while watching other shops get them. I've been patient since he has always taken care of us and it enabled me to stall the inevitable spend lol. During my wait and asking about the RPR so much it piqued 2 of my shooting buddy's interest and they have also put in orders for RPRs so now we have 2 in our group and one more on the way lol. Without further ado onto the pics

Burris XTR II 8-40 X 50
Burris High (1.5") XTR Signature Rings
Seekins Red Ambi Selector
Magpul MOE +Grip
Harris Swivel 6-9 bipod with KMW Pod-Loc

Here's a couple pics of some of my better groups from 100yards. These were shot with Hornady super performance 129gr factory loads. I've got a lot to learn and bad habits to break but I am really looking forward to getting more time behind this baby.

First shot was the one that was way off so I grabbed a measurement w/o it

LOVING IT!

I ordered the 308w in a 24" Barrel now I'm debating whether I want to go to the 6.5. As I'll be tempted to shoot out to 1000yards.
