Mike, post this for packrat if you would please. Cast iron burn chamber, Coal chamber. Face and top ceramic coated with color on cast iron.
Sides and back steel.
1920s I believe.

although, i think the heater is georgeous, buy it now, its euro- expensive but original as fuck, but damn first one i seen like that.
mike is going to put up some pics for me.
its a stove i bought, i love it, unique, the burn chamber and coal bin are cast iron, the top, face and door skins are cast that are porcelin coated with wood grain colors, from the 20s i think

the stove on the left is a guelph stove from 1915, i paid 175
type into computer parlor stoves and look at some of the big ones that are 5k and more...works of art...

I hope you're putting that onion in a salad or something uncooked.

I don't like onions, but the strawberry onion has a fantastic taste uncooked.

For you Yankees, the strawberry onion is grown around the perimeter (and sometimes within) a patch of berries. They pick up the flavor and sweetness of the berries.

That's interesting. I've never heard of them. I'll have to look around at our local stores to see if they are offered.

Damn Toot'n Scooter !!! I'm an unabashed Budweiser drinker. I'm obviously surrounded around these here parts with more craft/micro breweries than you can shake a stick at. I'll enjoy something different from time to time, but Bud is my go to daily make me feel better and stop the voices Beer. :oops:

After having both elbows rebuilt a few years back, that would be on the big end for what I’d swing these days. Actually, it’s pretty cool.

After being without power for several hours today due to an ice storm, I snapped a pic of the temp of our first floor thanks to wood heat once power was restored.

I partook of a few of those back in the day.

I could tell the ax was small, but thought that was some type of gourd, not an onion.

In your previous pic it looked big enough to chop small vegetables.
After seeing it in your palm, I'm thinking a cigar cutter...
 
@sandwarrior that tooth has a few degree forward lean. I have a few buddies that are heavy in the square chain and have done the testing on angles. That tooth is based off of their experience. I cut fire killed (90%) or beetle kill (10%), and mostly cut in the winter so the trees are frozen. The angle is a balance of durability and sharpness. I can tell you that angle is awesome in the wood I cut. The durability has been really good. I am getting something in the 10-12 tank range before it needs a touch up.

I guess thinking of hard dry wood, that would be how I'd sharpen my chain. Not hard to get way too much hook in dry wood.

Thanks guys, start of the day has by back a little stiff but the pain that has been down my ass and leg is almost completely gone! Sore throat from the breathing tube, as is to be expected.

Absolutely pain relief. I'm pretty certain I'd resign by lunch 'trying' to keep up with you. ;) And while we're at it, is this a good time to talk about a raise?

So far I'm going to say for pain relief I would absolutely recommend this surgery. At least with my surgeon.

@sandwarrior The hook can get out of hand quickly, I am currently staying where I am with forward lean, until I get a Simington 451c, I want to tune my chain, but am not certain that I am good enough as a filer to replicate when I get the angles where I want them. Once I get the grinder, I will get the consistency to tune and replicate the accuracy of angles. I have played with some aggressive forward lean, and wound up putting it on a bigger ported saw. I can give better updates once I have a grinder and have the angles.

Does anyone spin their own loops? If so loggerchain dot com has great Oregon prices with free shipping for 2018. I am currently experimenting with Oregon 72cl square grind. I like the Oregon chain, but personally like the Stihl chain and features better. If I cut really dirty wood then I would absolutely use the 72cl.

Stihl chain is harder...but harder to sharpen too. Oregon works well though.
 
My guess was a birdhouse nailed where that branch was, but that's just a wild assed guess. It was throwing chips, then saw speed went up and fine saw dust... It fucked the chain pretty bad. I sharpened it, but didn't get all the way through the bad spots. Cuts decent now, but not like it was.

It's like cutting firewood with a "non-saw" person. "Don't hit the ground with the chain spinning" has little meaning backed by little understanding. I just love filing half of a $35 chain down because someone rocked it.:mad:

Here is a picture of a piece of oak I cut the other day. It has been dead for awhile. the white is what looks like a worm, but is basically a piece of skin off of what looks like a little grub.

We were real dry in 2014, and most people think that is what killed the trees, but these little guys did not help matters.

Neat little holes!
