KRG Bravo Chassis

anyone widen the recoil lug to fit a straight lug yet? I'm guessing a dremel will be able to handle the job.

Could not be happier with my Bravo!

I really wish they would make these available for howa barreled actions instead of buying the package...

I just received my Bravo over the weekend and I really really love it. Has anyone found a way to adjust the seam between the front and rear parts of the stock? It kind of bugs me that they don't line up, but I'm willing to ignore it if there's no way to really fix it.

I had the same experience as you this weekend...the offset seem bothers me. I emailed KRG, and they said its normal.

Did you happen to have the mag latch button included? Mine did not and KRG said that is not standard.

So in waiting for my nucleus action and PVA barrel I bought some talon grip material and applied it to my bravo. I really like the feel of the talon grip rubber material especially against my face. It took a little time, but I like the outcome.

I plan on rattle canning my action and barrel fde just to see how it turns out, if it works I’ll get it cerakoted.

I'm looking to get something similar to PVA's John Hancock.

ARC NUCLEUS
with Remage barrel setup or ARC's barrel nut

Any issues with going the KRGB with W-3 lug size? This is just in case I go bigger lug later on? Will it fit? Any issues with using the bigger W-3 lug slot with smaller recoil lug?
ARC's barrel nut system fit in the KRGB?

Thanks!

You can order the w3 back bone with the bravo.

I saw that it wasn't included so I purchased it separate, along with the hook cover as well.

Well that would have been good to know, guess I'll have to pay for shipping twice.

Their website has a LOT of information on it. I'd say almost too much information, or at least it could be organized a bit better. But I do recall seeing in the "detailed information" section that the extended mag release was optional and available in their accessories section.

The mag release obviously works just fine without the extension, but I prefer the ergonomics of the extended button.

Newb question here. I just have a stock 700SA so I just got the regular bravo. If I upgrade the barrel etc later and get one of the bigger lugs that don't fit the regular bravo can I just clearance the stock with my dremel to fit or is it something that requires precise machining?

What do you guys use to reset the cheek rest back to the same spot (if you ever need to remove it)?

I saw one reviewer mentioned setting o-rings on the posts and using them as a reference point. I set mine where I wanted it and then measured the distance between the bottom of the riser and the top of the cutout.

I then cut out this little “gauge” using some scrap titanium I had lying around. It seems to work but I figure there must be a better way. Don’t judge my off center hole lol

I just took the tip of a sharp bullet (though any scripe will work) and drug it along the posts with it positioned. I now have a lovely copper colored reference line.

On the latest Precision Rifle Podcast, Howa's Matt Hornbeck said he was testing a Howa Bravo with the Whiskey 3 buttstock. I don't see the buttstocks listed separately on the KRG website but my wallet is morbidly curious.

Especially if you could mount a folding buttstock on it, that would be pretty slick. Would there be any practical difference between the Whiskey 3 and Bravo main and foreends?

So......which one of you has a Bravo for a Tikka you decided wasn't for you?? Looking for one

I just wish KRG's Order Dept. would answer my email ! I want a Bravo with the LH Whiskey 3 base so I can make a LH Bravo chassis. I sent an email to their Info Dept, they answered by referring me to email the Order Dept.

It's been a week,and no response yet?

I put this one on for my brother in law last weekend and it sure is nice. I may pick one up soon.

Has anyone used the tooless butt pad plate on their bravo,i really like my bravo and was thinking of adding it.

Yep. Replaces two spacers and adjusts height and cant of the butt-pad.
I run mine with the pad up high so that I shoulder up into the center of the pad.

Hello, can you send me your contact info? We are definitely beyond busy here but you should have heard from someone. Thank you,
Justin

You can put a W-3 fixed rear stock on the Howa Bravo, but not a folder, the cocking piece hits the hinge unfortunately.
The Bravo forend does have less features than the W-3. For example the W-3 has threaded inserts so if you want to attach something you just screw it on, it also has the built in QD cup at the front of the forend. The Bravo forend has more MLOK slots and is a bit lighter.
Thanks guys for all your business, you have some fine looking rigs!

See my post #120 on page 3. The lug recess is pictured. It's 1/2" wide and will take a pretty big lug before the space runs out. That part of the chassis can be dremeled if that's what you want. It won't be seen on the outer skin.

Shit, I guess that would have been easier to do lol

Just ordered the Borka PTL set at 65inlbs with the extended hex bit. KRG should offer these kits on their website *wink wink*

Seeing mixed stuff here and I'm not too familiar with these. Looks like they do not work with CTR mags, and the Tikka bolt will run into the cheekpiece if you have it raised very much? Is that accurate?

If so, are they actually planning on making a version that works with CTR mags and where the bolt won't hit the cheek piece? I'd pick up one of those in a heartbeat. Probably not gonna spend the $ unless they come out with a direct fit like that though, especially since the Magpul mags apparently don't work either?

They are making a Tikka specific cheekpiece and it wouldn't take much work with a mill to open the magwell for CTR mags. It is tapered for AICS mags and you would need to take the taper out and use a different release lever if I remember right. There has been talk on here about a CTR mag version from KRG.

Thanks for the reply. I will probably hold off til they make a CTR mag version with a Tikka specific cheekpiece. These would be incredibly popular with that configuration.

I don’t think they have any plans to make anything for the mags.

Cheek riser - yes
CTR mags - probably not

Does any chassis out there actually take ctr mags? I think you’ll either have to stick with your ctr stock or have something like a manners inleted. If you want a chassis, you’ll likely have to ditch the tikka mags.

Stupid question - what are the cheapest AICS compatible mags that work on a Tikka? I've heard magpul are no good.

I don't dislike the CTR stock. KRG Bravo is actually the first thing I've seen that I like considerably more and that is even close to being in a reasonable price range (or what I consider reasonable anyway).

German Gun Stock, McMillan, Bell and Carlson, and several other stock makers do CTR mag inlets so you can use your factory bottom metal. I think Manners makes one that uses factory bottom metal too. McCrees made a CTR mag chassis, not sure if it is still available.

But no chassis right?

McRees is a chassis. My GGS has an aluminum mini chassis in the stock similar to Manners. Pretty good deal for the $$, 3.5 lbs, no bedding required, and I used the factory bottom metal and the 2 extra mags that I picked up for $130 for 2.

I bought mine direct from them. Thomas is a good guy to work with once you get through the language barrier. $800 +/- delivered depending on how many flush cups and sling studs. If I were looking at a lighter hunting stock, I would consider their Ranger.

If they don't make a model that's compatible with CTR mags, it effectively adds $75 to the price of the stock for every CTR owner. That's probably a deal-breaker for me, especially since I like the CTR mag so much.

Unless I'm just horribly mistaken about the price of AICS mags.

You can have the mag well machined to fit the CTR mags. I believe you will need the KRG TRG mag catch also. Massoud should be able to answer this.

If you already have a couple of CTR mags it would be a wash as far as cost over new AICS mags.

I only have one CTR mag. If I need to shoot more than 10 rounds at a time, I've got the wrong gun.

I just like the CTR stock too much to spend $500 to replace it. If I could get one for $350, that would be tempting. But if I have to spend $100 to make that $350 stock work, then I'm back out again.
