CA Chick-fil-A Hiring "Hospitality Professionals" at $17-$18 an Hour

My last McDonald's experience was not worthy of $15 an hour wages all around. I think that it's the beginning of a bad trend.

You can't meaningfully compare Chik Fil A and McDonald's service in the same sentence. Chik Fil A absolutely RULES in service among the fast food industry. Those kids work their butts off, or they're out on them in short order. And they are always fast, courteous and pleasant. It is amazing to watch; and as an employer, somewhat of a wonder. (At least that's how they are here in the South).

I regretted my last McDonals experience. Service was worse than the food and that's saying a lot. I do think companies trying to pay their employees more, when warranted, is a good thing as long as it's their decision and they can make it work. I think the mindset of profit for shareholders being the main focus is a problem, but it's not a problem I want to get the gov involved in.

I agree completely.
When you get up to the counter, you're never greeted with "Wha chu wan?" Or some mumbling mush mouth covered in tats and face jewelry.

Courteous, clean and helpful.
I don't care if they go home after their shift and bitch about customers. While they are on company property, they will even help you after they have clocked out.
Great company with great employees

Absolutely spot on! Here in Houston restaurant customer service blows-BIG. Except for chick fil a. I don’t know where they import the kids from, but they are always friendly and efficient- and it does not matter which store you hit, or when. They are all the same. The Carl’s and McD’s right next door will suck ass, but the chick fil a will blow you away with service. It is truely an amazing juxtaposition.

Does it bug the shit out of anyone else when the Chik-Fil-A employees say "its my pleasure". It is the main reason I don't go there much.
Doesn't bother me, only the long lines and that I would have to drive almost four hours to get to one does. Saying "My pleasure" instead of "You're welcome" is a customer service policy of theirs to demonstrate that customer service is their passion rather than their obligation, obviously it's working. https://www.southernliving.com/news/why-chick-fil-a-employees-say-my-pleasure

I think that I've been to one a grand total of three times? Nothing on their menu has ever really grabbed me by the boo-boo, and the missus isn't big on some of the corporation's past practices. Invariably there's a more interesting alternative, like a Burger King, or a Popeyes, or a Church's, or a mom n' pop ethnic joint.

Corporate does a lot for the community and their employees. They're in the process of expanding($$$) their daycare facility; free daycare for corporate employees. They also have a nice fitness facility available to them.

Are you triggered or offended the employee enjoyed serving you?

I know why they say it. It just bugs me. I wouldn't say I am triggered (Have never attacked anyone for it) nor offended. For one, I find it Bullshit, there is no way it pleasures them. So I feel I am getting smoke blown up my ass. Also you can tell it is scripted, so it is actually meaningless. You can't talk to the employees it seems sterile, like they are all scared that the hammer will come down at any moment.
Some here talk about public schools indoctrinating our kids, well to me this seems like an indoctrination. They ALL say it. It just seems a little "Borg-ish" you shall assimilate.

Not only that, but McD was pressured to increase wages as sort of a "right" of workers. From the looks of this, Chik F is providing an incentive under their own volition

I was indoctrinated by my parents to say sir, ma'am and thank you.

Before retiring from my civilian career I dealt with customers on a regular basis. I thanked them, sometimes said my pleasure and was sincere. Difficult customers were thanked...maybe they detected I wasn't sincere.

Lots of companies have scripted ways of answering the phone or responding to certain queries/situations. I remember answering phones with my unit, rank and name followed by, "May I help you Sir (Ma'am was added later). This is nothing new. Compared to McD and most other fast food joints, I'll take Chik's service any day.

Some of the Chick-fil-A girls around here are smoking hot!

Good for this franchise owner if he can make it work.

I said around here, not whatever shithole that one's located in.

I'd get some pics, but I don't want to be that creepy old guy. Plus schools are out so I try to remember some of the chicken hustlers may be a tad too young this time of year. ;-)

Rural Electrification still has someone grinning like an idiot and craving a cigarette, huh?

Are we really going to have a fucking 9mm vs 45 ACP, Ford vs Chevy, Mils vs MOA argument over this?

I fully understand manners and politeness. I don't care for the Phrase, that is all there is to it. You can fucking talk until you are blue in the face, it will not all of the sudden make me admire the phrase.

Agreed, it's also the same consistently pleasant experience that I get at In-N-Out and Dutch Bros Coffee.

Except for Starbucks, Dicks, Target, and a few other on my boycott list, I gotta say I like seeing these kids get jobs at these fast food places, my first job was at a Bagel store cleaning the dough tables and the huge mixers while talking with the bakers from the bakers union in Brooklyn who came over to jersey to roll thousands of bagels. this was when I was 12 years old and then on to a dish washer job in a jewish deli and then as a welders helper summer job at 16. We need more of this and less illegals and welfare.

Let's see... a chicken place that is hiring people to be hospitable and bring in more diners?

I've been there.

It's called:

HootersTop11_SandlerMovieSet.jpg

You know at Chick Fil a.... they ensure that the pickles on their sandwiches don't touch... just as God intended!

Cheers,

Sirhr

P.S. I never got the whole Chick Fil thing. OK sandwiches. Not my thing. Busenhalter-6, on the other hand, will murder babies in their sleep to eat there... which is too bad for her, because the nearest one is 200 miles from us. Oh well... Then again... so is the nearest Hooters. Sucks to live in Mayberry.

We don't have one near us but usually try to stop at one to eat if we are traviling. The food is good, staff in nice, and chain owners are good moral people. All stuff that is hard to find in this day and age.
