There's something in the water in San Diego

Saw Judas Preist back in 84' or 85'. 2nd concert I'd ever seen w/ Van Halen being first.

I know more fat vegetarians than skinny. Sugar is vegetarian. Potato chips are vegetarian. Most candy is vegetarian. They rarely opt for the healthy option because they're just following a fad their peers are also blindly following.

Dunno where this pic was taken but it looks like Frank is having a Mate tea.
If so that may be a tell to location.

Interesting......first thing my wife dropped was sugar. Never got to see Priest but loved their music. Van Halen 1984 was my first in Pocatello Idaho. Still the best to date?

Edit: After being smacked in the head and called a dumb ass she informed me that she is following a “plant based” vegan diet. I get to see cool shit like how broccoli has more protein than steak?

Sugar is the cause of many disease processes, not fat, not cholesterol, not sodium.

This was found in the 70s and the sugar industry immediately began a counter campaign that falsely contributed fat to heart disease and not sugar which had been shown to be linked closely to heart disease. The rest is history as they say.

You NEED fats. Lots of them. Especially those still found on the meat you're eating. it's unadulterated and is the taste portion of meat. The biggest mistake people make when buying meat is buying lower fat content. You want at least 80:20 ground beef and the most marbled steaks you can find in the case. Your brain, especially when growing, thrives on fats. You don't eat fat and the your body converts it into fat again. That's impossible and like saying gas comes out the tailpipe after combustion. Sugar is converted to fats. Immediately regardless of source. Oranges or straight refined sugar. Doesn't really matter how refined or not it is either. IOW, high fructose corn syrup has the same effect as the sugar in your apple. The only difference is the sugar in the fruit has an opportunity to get further digested and delayed than pure sugar.

Next time you're at the grocery store pick up a pack of pig bacon and turkey bacon and compare. Make sure you're not getting a lower weight and/or serving size on the turkey bacon to falsely make the turkey bacon "more healthy". It has a minor amount less of fat than pork bacon. Not enough to consider and as I stated before, fat is actually good for you and NEEDED.

While you're at it, compare 12 ounces of OJ to 12 ounces of Coca-Cola. Remember, it's the sugar that's killing you slowly.

You have done your homework. There is a documentary on netflix about sugar; I think it was called Fed Up. There was also some bullshit documentary on there that implicated fat as the cause of diabetes. The model they were showing was absolutely laughable. I forgot the name of this one.

A few years ago, I did a search for studies linking sodium with hypertension. I found that a diet high in sodium as opposed to low sodium had a mean difference in BP of about 5 mmHg. However, glucose has been shown to be pro inflammatory and an oxidant, and a large contributor to cardiovascular disease. Conventional thinking is wrong.

A lack of sodium is much more dangerous than excessive sodium UNLESS you have an existing sodium problem.

The "Low Fat" propaganda and the resulting diets have destroyed health in America & caused healthcare costs to become bankrupting.
The enemies are Sugar and Complex carbs
If you look at all the "Low Fat" and "Non Fat" stuff, it is usually loaded with sugar & carbs or both.
You need some simple carbs to stay healthy, but WAY less than people think, you mostly need fats, meats & vegetables (Fruits should be a treat, like desert or candy, not a main bulk part of your diet).

When the Federal government started messing up what kids could have in school, they destroyed the health of a whole generation & ruined their ability to learn.
Whole milk was banned because it had "Fat" (and was too cheap to make) when that was what the kids needed for health and learning.
Low fat / fat free sweetened chocolate milk and orange juice were mandated, both with loads of sugars (but they cost more so corporations make more).

Here is a great video about it if you have about an hour to spare:

High fruitcose corn syrup which is poured into almost everything thanks to political corruption is so much worse than real sugar, a bit of real sugar is fine for your body to process, but that vile syrup stuff messes up everything.

Your salt intake directly works with your water needs if you are healthy & don't have an underlying issue.
In a hot humid climate you can (need to) process enough salt & water to make the "Experts" here think you are out of your mind.
When it's near 100 degrees and the humidity is around 99% and you are hiking up the hills, you'll be looking like a human sprinkler head till your blood finally thins out and you loose enough weight.

The body has more efficient mechanisms to eliminate excess sodium than it does with Hyponatremia.

Cane sugar is really no better than corn syrup. That has been the latest strategy of big soda; to get you to believe their soda is more healthy because it has cane sugar in it, promoting it as “natural”. Lies

Well, they are all likely vegans, which leads to malnourishment in some cases, and stunted growth
Not only 'vegans' (Vagans?) but I'm sure they avoid gluten like it was the plague. I'm even more sure that they don't know what aisle in the store the gluten is sitting, and I'm even more sure that these idiots don't know whether gluten is packaged in a bag, can, or bulk. But they demand no gluten, cause it's fashionably bad.

Celiac disease is indeed real, but this anti gluten movement is fucking stupid. Through the power of suggestion, people report anecdotal evidence of feeling miraculously better since they stopped eating gluten. If you’re gonna cut shit out of your diet, start with anything greater than 10 grams of sugar per serving

The only diets I have seen that changes people dramatically is paleo or atkins. Plenty of meat and fat in these, although paleo does avoid gluten. However, that is a small part of the diet and likely is not a major contributor to the effects. The crux of both diets is avoiding sugar and minimizing manufactured carb intake. Avoid artificial sweeteners too, like aspartame, saccharin, sucralose, maltodextrin, etc because they cause a neurohormonal reaction and a reflex release of insulin, which has actually been shown to be more extreme than a pure chemical response to glucose. Oddly, stevia is somehow devoid of this effect from what I have read. But if you are a DM2, you have nothing to lose by consuming artificial sweeteners

What is your opinion of the plant based diet?

I can't say that I think it's a bad thing, but you have to consider the feasibility. Cost and continual access to fresh produce, as well as knowing where any deficiencies are and filling the gaps. For example, the most obvious one is B12, which is only found in meat, as is cholesterol. If you have the ability and patience to follow a regimen like that, I say go for it. I'll ask my sister next time I talk to her because she is the dietician; I'm just from an allopathic education and we learn everything about nutrition in literally about 5 hours of education

Speaking of documentaries...I highly recommend "Cooked" on Netflix. Some good info and history....but then again, I like a lot of Pollan's writings on the modern day diet...
