Has anyone tried this one out yet? Pros? Cons? The price looks attractive, so does the FFP part, plus I know Nikon stands behind their warranty from using Nikon lenses for the camera but is this one any good? Please don't start with NightForce ATACR, Vortex Razor, Schmidt & Bender, a.s.o, I agree they are quality, yes I own some but out of my budget this year due to scheduled house maintenance. This is a specific question about a specific product that fits in my budget this year.

Just get a NF or Schmidt man there way better...
    Lol kidding..
Honestly my buddy has the fx1000 and I have the gen 2 pst, and the scopes are pretty close.
I prefer the turrets on the vortex as him, the glass at least to both of us looked identical in each scope. Theres nothing wrong with the nikon reticle if you don't need the tree.

Our opinion on the nikon is its right there with the vortex in terms of quality. His tracks great has good clean glass and for the price point it's hard to pass up. I paid like 300 more for the vortex and all I feel I have that he doesn't, is a Xmas tree reticle and a little bit better feeling turrets. Other than that they are pretty much even.

Thanks, I was hoping to hear that since this year will have to be a little milder on the wallet because of some things on the house that will have to be done.

I went down this road just last year. Budget had me set and it came down to the Nikon FX-1000 4-16 and the Viper Gen II 3-15. The Athlon Ares ETR wasn't easily available at that point or it would have been a three way race. I ended up going with the Vortex. As mentioned earlier glass is similar and I couldn't see any real difference to my untrained eye. The Vortex had slightly better turrets and Christmas tree reticle and is slightly better built in my opinion but not $300 better. The only reason I went home with the Vortex was because it had illumination and the store didn't carry any of the Nikons with illum. If they had the illuminated model I would have walked out with the Nikon and spent the extra money on ammo. Obviously I don't own the Nikon so I can't tell you what tracking and durability is on the scope but others can.

Thanks I appreciate the input, after all we all like to dream big and if we've got the dough at the time "Hey what costs the world?" but sometimes a man's got to do what a man's got do.

I have a FX1000 6-24 on a 223 AI, which I have probably put in excess of 1K rounds, maybe closer to 2K through in the last couple months. LOTS of knob turning from 0-1000 yards, it has tracked true, retured to zero, the zero stop is easy to use and set up, and the price is right. I may purchase another one this year for a .22 lr. I haven't used the lighted reticle.

I have both the Vortex and the Nikkon you mentioned with Illuminate reticle. I enjoy both...I am just very thankful that my daughter chose the Vortex for her rifle and I got to put the Nikon on my new Grendel Bolt build. I don't need that much magnification on the Grendel but it fills the spot until I eventually grab another scope...which I will undoubtedly spend countless hours/nights researching.
But frankly the FX1000 is a very good scope and I am not opposed to getting the 4x16 model for the Grendel and saving the 6x24 for my final build...whenever that happens. Or gifting it to my father since he loves it.
