Perhaps I worded that wrong.. that the Ammo was interchangeable between the two.

At a Sportsman’s I watched a young couple talking to one of the employees about getting a handgun for her to learn to shoot and carry concealed.

Not that I think it is a good idea to modify bullets but couldn't you just ya know... do it on the bullet before you load it in the case.

Wasn't sure what he was talking about. Tried to use my Google-fu to find something about it before posting here.
I asked him if he meant lathe turned copper like the Warner tools or other bullets in copper based alloys. He said those are only used for hunting.
He also mentioned people coat their bullets in tungsten. He was saying that titanium bullets and tungsten coated bullets were harder Rockwell and reduced barrel life. Some people getting only 800 rounds out of a barrel. That I could find. Tungsten disulfide. WS2. I had never heard of it before. Cousin of moly coating with fewer downsides from what I found in my searching. Supposedly HBN is better.
Know a guy that isn't a shooter but a lifetime hunter. Always talks about how if he can hit a pie plate at 100 yards he is good to go deer hunting. Drives me insane.
The only thing worse than that is they guy who can’t hit the pie plate/sheet of paper and five minutes later goes on about how they hit golf balls at 800yds or goes up to another shooter and starts giving advice.
He missed it one time at the range and asked if I could lower his trigger weight so he wouldn't pull his shots...
You should have offered to put grip tape on his trigger as well. That way his finger won’t slip off.
If you don't already have them, get some electronic ear protection and head out to a 100 yard public range. You will hear some interesting stuff. I have the memory of a gold fish so I end up forgetting most odd things I hear. I do remember two kids arguing weather or not my 24" Rem 700 in an XLR Evo chassis was a rifle or a pistol, the youngest thought because it had a pistol grip that it was a pistol. But they are kids so I wouldn't call them stupid, it's was just funny to hear them bitching at eachother.
People seem to think you can't hear them because you have ear muffs on. Plus, people usually don't have electronic ear pro they are talking loudly at each other so it makes it pretty easy to hear conversations from half the range.
I usually mind my own business unless I am approached. Sometimes I will spot for people next to me if it seems like they are having trouble with a hunting scope and can't see their impacts, I will just measure with my reticle and let them know how off they are.
I have had people come up to me saying something like "my buddy has a rifle like that, he can get dime sized groups all day long with it". My 10 round groups are around .75 MOA +- .2 MOA, so not "dime sized" but I just shake it off.

Definitely. I run Sordins so I hear it all lol. I felt bad for a high school aged kid the other day. He was at the range and his dad was “teaching” him how to shoot. Everything he was saying and having the kid do was wrong and the kid was barely hitting the target’s paper.
I’m not one to interject myself into another’s business at the range unless it is something unsafe. As I was thinking about how bad I felt for the kid, the poor RSO stepped in to unfuck the situation before ignorance became a safety issue. ...and did so multiple times.

Does the 240B shoot a 0.312 caliber projectile? I'd assumed it would be 0.308.

When I was living in my apartment I was telling the resident manager that the dishwasher wasn't working. Said it was probably a stuck valve/solenoid or something as it was not flushing the food particles and would leave the top shelf cups and bowls covered with food grit. Informed her the dishes were coming out of the dishwash dirtier than when I put them in as I always rinse them beforehand.
Manager insisted there was nothing wrong with the dish washer. Told me the reason my dishes were dirtier after washing, was because they were too clean when I put them into the dishwasher; and that that was NORMAL! She actually thought I would believe her. *shakes head*

I agree with you. Most shots on game are within 100 yards anyhow contrary to what many believe that don’t hunt. I would strive to be more proficient than a paper plate at 100 yards of course......just in case.
Very true, where I grew up in Nevada, shots are more typically around 200. 400 was not uncommon.
That said, many a patient hunter out there packed a lever action 30-30 and were still successful.

im in northern nevada and a typical shot is...like you say...200yds IF your quite and patient but most are closer to 300+....im not a hunter but just about everyone i know is.
Well. Regarding "minute of deer = 12"@100 yards..." - reminds me of a sort of argument I had back in the '70s. Long story shortened, I was befriended by a group of hard-core hunters up on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and Maryland through one of the guys' sister and brother-in-law. In the peak of the season, a day of hunting might begin at maybe 3-4am, going out for geese or ducks. Come back in for breakfast, then out again for quail until dusk, eat dinner, then out to chase the raccoon hounds until almost midnight. Get a few hours' sleep and do it again if it wasn't Sunday and it was a holiday or vacation.
So this was before the days of screw-in chokes. Almost all of these guys shot a Remington 1100 autoloader with a 26" improved cylinder barrel and used it for everything from quail to geese. Amazingly, they had the discipline to hold fire on waterfowl until the birds were within definite kill range of the open chokes.
Since I used a Browning A5 with a 30" full-choke barrel for waterfowl, it made me crazy to watch ducks and geese fly by 35-40 yards out and they wouldn't shoot (which was good) and told me not to (argh). This happened a few times until I couldn't keep quiet anymore - I was quite a bit younger than them and I was their guest - and I said, look guys, I have a much tighter choke, magnum waterfowl loads, and I am used to shooting doves - much smaller and faster - at yardages way farther than they would even think about. So it was agreed that I could use my own judgment about shooting the next ducks that came by too far for them to take.
A few minutes later, a pair of mallards flew by "full value" left to right, about 10 yards past the float they had anchored as max-distance range for their open chokes. I fired twice and both ducks hit the water and didn't twitch.
So, I earned my stripes that day on waterfowl, and from then on I was in high demand to go to turkey shoots with the guys, where everyone wanted to use my shotgun (and the shoot managers learned to provide the shells instead of letting people use their own when they saw what reloads with an ounce and a half of #9 did out of that barrel).
