Been on the forum for awhile. Just never stopped by to say hey. I always dig through to find the info I need. Stepping outside my comfort zone and trying to get a lil more active.

Place can be a lil intimidating it's so damn big and the wealth of knowledge here is insane. I'm really a newbie to longer distance rifle shooting. Looking at shooting my first PRS match 2/22. Have a lot to learn yet, but I'm going for it.

Love the podcast listen regularly and really enjoy the content Frank puts out.

Stay Blessed!

Welcome, I am also relatively new to the forum. You have a great community of shooters down there. I won’t be at the match on the 22nd, but if you keep with it I’m sure we will run into each other this summer.

Thanks! Hopefully so. Granby is the closest to me a couple hrs. Not sure I'll get out much further than that with my schedule. Who knows might get bit by the PRS bug.

There is some upcoming matches at sheepdog also, not much further. Check out minutemanprl.org. Feel free to bug me with stupid match questions.

So how was your first match?
It was sick! Really enjoyed it. Did well on some stages not so well on others. Four hits at 1k prone. I'll take that for my first time at that distance. Made some wind corrections on holds to gain some hits as well. Barricade stage was less than stellar. Could have used a bag to support my dominant arm rifle was shaky. Overall it put me in shooting positions I can't regularly shoot.

I also brought a buddy who really enjoyed himself as well. He's a new shooter. He had some struggles but had a blast. I'll post the squad sheet when my buddy sends it along. I shot in Squad 1.

Where you there today?

Im the first shooter. Funny, it's the same in USPSA nobody like to go first. They always sign the squad sheet in the middle and leave the top open. Finished tied for second in my squad. Bombed the barricades. Was really impressed with the rifle and the load I have worked up.

Where do they post the match results? Or do they?

Where in MA do you live? I’m in Gloucester

Do you shoot at Woodcock Rd?
I have. My membership just expired during the Covid 19 situation. Also, there prices have doubled for what you get I longer think it's worth the cost.

There is another local range that goes out 300yds. I have an application in over there. Just waiting for the dust to settle to get a call.

Ha

I wonder if we have met. I was shooting there every Sunday until they closed. They did double the cost but 500 yards is nice and there is no other range out here that long. I hope we get a credit or extension on our dues since we can't go there during this outbreak.

My normal place to shoot is in Tiverton which is only 200 yards but it a great facility and there is plenty to do at 200 that directly is transferrable to longer engagements.

The other nice thing about Woodcock is that it is never crowded.

I was generally there on Sundays as well up until they closed. Maybe, you where there while walked to 500 to staple up some targets? I like the 500 as well. Just think if they're gonna up it that much it needs a lil love. It's really a bare bones place. We can't bring a friend or a family member is a deal breaker for me at the new cost.

The new place Copicut Rifle Association I'm trying to get into is only $50 a year. It's about the same distance from me as Woodcock Rd. I also belong to another outdoor range that has 100yd range and some pistol pockets you can setup steel and draw from a holster.

Do you shoot PRS comps?
I'd like to get hooked up with someone a lil close to me who has some experience to train with.

I have shot a few matches to date. I typically do 1-3 a season. Not at all an expert. I just shoot a lot with other friends and like minded people. Not all too into the match scene although I may participate more now that there is a New England presence
