Anyone in the NW side of the state? I am in KC and wanting to learn some long range shooting.

Thanks!

Derek,

We are shooting Sunday at Big Piney. We have a tact Steel Match going on. I am sure you would have a blast if you made the trip. (Big Piney is near Houston MO so it might require an over night on Saturday eve)

Vapor trail has a 1000yd range. It is in Spicard, MO. I know Vapor trail has a Facebook page you could check out.

If you ever want to make the trip to the lake of the Ozarks area, Rolling Hills rifle and pistol club is nearby. It is members only, but if you wanted to check it out I will meet you and show you the place. And let you shoot. As much as you want. Out to 1100 yds.

Appreciate the invite. I just got my first bolt gun, and think I need to learn some fundamentals before I attempt a match or try for anything more than a couple hundred. Been an AR guy for ever and decided to try a bolt gun, on a whim. Bought a 700 and a Mcrees Chassis.

I'm really considering joining Rolling hills club even though it's a 3 1/2 hour drive one way and will be lucky to make it down once a month to shoot with my work schedule. I was wondering if there are quite a few people there on the weekends?

derek,
We are about 3 hrs from the KC Cabelas. If you are wanting to learn about some long range shooting, we are hosting a class you might want to check out.

We also host a tactical rifle match the first weekend of the month that you will get some good LR practice at that is very beginner friendly yet still challenging.

This place isnt really hi traffic. Brian has said he was going to limit membership to allow the shooters to not be tripping over each other. Even if there are others there, its a pretty laid back atmosphere. It's worth the drive.

I have been there several times through out the week, always had the range to myself.

Appreciate the invite-already have plans for that weekend, but may look at another one coming up if you have something?

Thanks!

does this range charge a fee per day or is it annual membership? if i make the drive will i be able to get some shooting in that day if im pennyless or will i be trying to trade me 175's for a few hours of rangetime? also, is it overwatched by gestapo rangemasters with nazi rules or can a guy relax and train there?

oh, sorry read the links and see its a richie rich club. 275$...i could get a lot of std's for that. nevermind

I am up by Collins off Hwy 13 and Hwy 54, would love to hook up with some area shooters to learn more about the sport.
There is/was a range by Stockton lake (Bear Creek Tactical) that is supposed to have a range out to 1000, but the last time I looked their website was down.

PM me

Has anyone tried out rolling hills club in Mack’s creek MO (lake of the ozarks)? Apparently I hear they have a 1k range with steel silhouettes and targets. Live in Jeff city and looking for a nice long range course I can stretch my rifles out at.

I have not, and am not super close to it, but I would like to know more if you find out.

Any farmers have a place for a guy and his dad to hunt? I’m just outside of St. Louis.

It was a good range. A friend had a membership there, and I shot my first match there. Basically where I started learning how to shoot a bolt gun.

my friend and I thought about buying it but we didn’t know how much we could make it out being in St. Louis. It is a big liability as well. Couldn’t of asked for nicer owners while we were using it.

It may be a bit of a drive but don't rule out the Gadsden range in the Iberia area. Nice range with two 1000 ranges and the usual barricades etc. yearly membership is very reasonable for what you get.

They arent accepting any more members for 2020... which seems like a terrible plan to make money and keep shit going, but I dont run a range.
Absolutely, if I was in the business I'd be in the business, have enough bank roll to buck anyone who opposed.
