Serious question; How come you don't use rechargeables ? (Tendency to leak ? Not as reliable ? Not as much runtime ?......)

I do use rechargeables / Anker packs as much as possible. The NV/Thermal stuff I use most — SkeetIRs, UTCs, Halo-LR — all work great with Anker 10000mAh packs. I don’t like using rechargeables with my DTNVGs, but I barely use those anymore. The LWTS and CRATOS use AA’s, so I have a similar stash of 2-3K Energizer Lithium AA’s as well.

My Surefires and IR lasers much prefer Energizers over any rechargeables I’ve ever used, and I’ve invested extensively in the best batteries and chargers money can buy. I like the new DF Surefire(s) and am running some Olights around the farm that take 18650’s, which are awesome, but my “life saving” lights are all SF.

The reality is, I sense a disturbance in the force — like most of y’all do. No matter who wins, November 4th is going to be the beginning of a New Frontier. I don’t generally style myself a prepper, but I’m stocking-up in large quantities on things that may become currency should that Frontier become a reality. The beauty of it is, even if 04NOV ushers in a Utopia rather than the anticipated Dystopia, I won’t lose a dime on anything I’m buying.

Sadly, what little remains of my money is on conditions worsening considerably before there is any hope for improvement.

I bet that’s not the answer you were expecting. 😁

I was entertained by your response, no worries. ;)

I was asking because I "had" (lost in a burglary) a PVS7, Litton, Gen 1 (probably, because I got them in about 1991). The internal springs/battery conductors were frequently breaking if I left the batteries in. Before I wised up, I had a battery leak (minor amount, easy cleanup) inside the battery compartment that didn't do any long term damage. Learned my lesson on that.

Surefire and energizer will pay to have your device fixed or replaced if their batteries damage it.

I removed batteries when not in use regardless

Often overlooked when cleaning the ammo shelves out, but this will also be essential to saving your life from the women in your life.
