Hi all . i have only just joined the site been shooting a long time but mainly deer. would like to do some ELR shooting . I have narrowed my choice of scope to zco 5x27 or Steiner m7i . Has anyone had the opportunity to compare them side by side its maybe a dumb question but nothing ventured nothing gained . I would still use the scope for hunting so light gathering lens quality . Would suppose mechanical quality to be same ?

Reticle choice is personal. The ZCO is gonna be hard to beat. Also, the resale value is almost retail. Use the search feature, there’s a company that has them in stock now and selling.

Thank you gents for the advise and the info .
I have been shooting and stalking deer for nearly 50 years it was my occupation professionally and i still do a fair old bit. Always used SFP , scopes have a Zeiss Z8 on my 6x47 and a Khales csx on my 308 both really good glass for low light .
I hope i am posting in the right place please tell me if i ain't i intend to have a go at PRS style shooting and the ZCO looks extremely good .
Can i ask if they are as tough as the other makes durable etc as my scopes get used all weather so need to be able to handle that and take a few knocks . Again thank you for your time

I would definitely go with a ZCO. I am so happy with the performance and the customer service. They are great to deal with and are more than happy to answer all of your questions.

I have used both the MPCT2 and the MPCT3 reticle and I do prefer the MPCT2 over the MPCT3.

I have no experience with the Steiner, but my ZCO’s are exemplary. If you can afford the ZCO, that is definitely the way to go. Get yourself some Aadland/Aadmount caps for it too.....
HIThreadcutter308 . thank you for that I intend to go ZCO 5x27. next choice which ret also have not heard of Aadland / Aadmount caps are they better than Tenabrex .Will have to have a look over here . cheers for that.

Hi Moor,

I have MPCT 2's and MPCT 3's. I prefer the 3. But, not to the extent that I'm going to sell my 2's to fund more 3's. The 2's are just fine.

Here's the link to Aadmount;

They are stout caps, in my opinion, the best out there. One note of caution; The owner appears to be a one man show and builds to order. People get frustrated when they place their order and aren't getting constant feedback from him. When I order his caps, I place the order and just patiently wait. I've had them show up in as little as a week and I think the longest was 3.5 or 4 weeks. He can't be making caps/mounts and conversing with people constantly, so he makes product and ships as fast as he can. So, sometimes the comms suffer. His caps are worth the wait, he's a good guy and makes a great product. :) (y)

@jwknutson17 has had both and could tell you more. The Steiner struggles with CA and IQ falloff at upper magnification - the ZCO does not.
Hi wjm.308 thanks for that . sent a message to jwknutson17 he sent a very detailed message very informative with a list of his personal best choices . Appreciated . he now uses Tangent Theta which are out of my league sadly. So hopefully will get a ZCO in JAN 2021 regards from N yorks , UK

Moor,

Just as another point of reference, I have a TT and I am very happy with it, zero complaints. However, my next scope purchase will be a ZCO, all things considered.

Jeebuz  ......leave me alone :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

@MoordogNY in all seriousness, CST guys may be a half a bubble off of plumb, but they're great guys. We just like to torment each other. ;)

Nothing wrong with the M7 scopes. I wouldn't turn down the ZCO either. There are other options in the price range as well. Pick your most important features and roll with it. At this price point they all work and work well.
