Hi,

Hahaha that address is a place holder.

That T&E rifle will be at the elrso mile match this coming month at 7 Foxtrot.

I just learned today that 2 shooters could not use same rifle in the match per elrso rules...was planning to test jacketed vs monos at same match with 2 shooters..but o well.

Sincerely,
Theis

Where there is a will, there is a way. One shooter is not on the roster for the competition but still participates in the match. Maybe a small sponsorship contribution or item to the prize pot?

The issue would that that a shooter/s are getting more data for the day than the other teams. When you start stretching out the distance, that’s a big deal.

So it wouldn’t be fair even if a rifle was shot by a second person “off the roster” as it’s still data.

Hi,

Yea I think he was meaning that the competitor shoots as official match participant and other shooter just shoots without officially competing.

We can shoot the day before or after match if wanted to do that route.

Sincerely,
Theis

I really want to need one of these, but would be akin to an old guy driving a Ferrari around town :D

i'd think jacket versus mono, two completely different loads would be non issue but that's just me

Wind calls are what they’re really worried about.

Hi,

IF we can get the monos delivered to ammo guys in time; I will just show up and test them at the facility a couple days before the match or I will test the jacketed bullets a couple days before the match and let @Dthomas3523 run monos during the competition.

Whatever it is we will make it work for the benefit of Hoplite Arms testing!!

Best case scenario is something like this:

1. We already have enough factory jacketed bullet 300NM ammo.
2. We get some "souped up" reloads with jacketed bullets so we can see exactly what MVs they can indeed be pushed at in the LHGT 7.
3. We get some standard MV monos along with some "souped" up MV monos so we can see exactly what component gives up the ghost first...primer pockets, shooters shoulder lol, or monos....I pretty much already know which one gives it up first but more data is always a good thing.

Sincerely,
Theis

Hi Guys,

So as this thread nears its' 45th page while at the same time shitloads of work is going into final phases of T&E of the Aspis weapons model..all while new website is being developed, lolol....Figured it was time to update some of the specifications of the weapons.

High Pressure Receiver System

  • Receiver Body: Manufactured from AISI 4140 with all machining completed post vacuum hardened heat treatment process with a HRC of 45.
  • Breech Cylinder: Manufactured from super alloy-Aermet 100 with all machining completed post age hardened heat treatment process with a HRC of 50.
  • Bolt: Manufactured from super alloy-Aermet 100 with all machining completed post age hardened heat treatment process with a HRC of 52.
  • Integral 20 MOA base (Kopis), 30 MOA base (Aspis), 40 MOA base (Phalanx).
  • Integral recoil lug.
  • M16 Style Extractor: Manufactured from AISI 4340 with all machining completed post vacuum hardened heat treatment process with a HRC of 44.
  • Firing Pin: Manufactured from 4140 with all machining completed post vacuum hardened heat treatment process with a HRC of 47. Firing pin tip is .062” with .055” of protrusion through .063” opening in boltface.
  • 3 lug design with 60 degree bolt throw of which only 10 degrees above horizontal.
  • Unique bolt stop and bolt stop location leaving the side of the receiver smooth with no protrusions.
  • Utilizing a Timney Howa 1500 compatible trigger design eliminates cumbersome trigger pins. Replacing multiple pins with a singular allen cap screw allows for simplified trigger removal for maintenance.

Chassis System

  • Heavily modified LARS chassis manufactured by Hoplite Arms.
  • Integral RRS dovetail with multiple end user adjustable hard stop locations. Enabling end users to limit the amount of rail travel for specific clamps or attachments.
  • Manufactured from 7075 T6 aluminum.
  • Ergo Grip zero angle grip.
  • Tool-less length of pull and cheek piece adjustments.
  • Adjustment brackets are contained with internal tracks, eliminating excessive bracket movement as well as eliminating the possibility of the backet to become disengaged from chassis while adjusting.
  • Tool-less adjustment for recoil pad height and angle placement.
  • Limited rotational flushcups.
  • Unique Chassis design allows for trigger removal without removal of barreled action from the chassis.
  • Lay flat folding buttstock is end user configurable, folding either left or right with the removal of one allen cap screw.
  • Simple and rugged folder engagement mechanism with a manual type locking mechanism.

Sincerely,
Theis

I'm gonna vote on the brass giving up its primer pocket and having a sticky web area.

Now if you're including the primer also, it'll go right after the standard brass goes.
It would be interesting to have a rifle action attached to a pressure test barrel.

I’m curious if theis wants the tula primers stateside because they have a thicker cup material? I know I’ve heard they can be harder to set off but I’ve never heard the actual reason as to why. Thicker cup making them so but also handles higher pressures better? That would be a pretty baller move if so. (Just my thoughts while reading the comment on the primers going)

Hi,

AND why do you have to go trying to be logical and pairing different threads into 1 end goal, lololol?

Great episode! I can’t explain why, but the last few years I imagined a Scandinavian accent when I read Theis’ posts. On the podcast he sounds like my buddies from Houston, lol

So after reading another thread about bullet blow ups,

is your hp ammo going to be solids only? I would imagine that pushing bullets 500fps faster than what is commonly available would result is quite a few poofs

Hi,

Everyone should be shooting solids anyways, lol.

Hi,

Well..Happy Friday for those whom have work weeks dictated by calendars, lolol

Today I wanted to highlight R&D...yes; research and development, lol....

One of if not the single most important part of any business...especially the firearms industry.

But it is something that lots of companies rush through without properly testing their equipment.

Proper R&D is not only time consuming but it cost a fair amount of money to do it right.

Never sacrifice quality and the strive for perfection just to rush production.

You guys are going to like a few improvements we are working on this very minute!!!

I get excited every time this thread has a new post.

Ok Theis,

The bit in red is a big tease.
Come-on out with it mate, we are all in suspense ?????

Edit: spelling

Theis you guys are missing tons of customer service practice and market good will.

If you don’t rush something to market without proper testing then how can you have customers praise that your a great guy and will make things right...

Hi,

O shit, lol.....It is probably from being thrown up the stairs too many times as a child but for some reason my brain tells me that IF there was ever a department within a company that I would like to get rid of them all for not being needed...is the Customer Service department.

IF sales does their job, shipping does their job, assembly does their job, production does their job, QC does their job, engineering does their job, and last but not least...I do my job then Customer Service department should be surfing the web for defense expos for me to attend, lolol

Sincerely,
Theis

Up until Ham Fisted mil/exMil start playing with your weapon system like it's a 1970 surplus rifle, and the too much money not enough grey matter buyers start cramming 300 RUM in a 300 WM (.30 cal is .30 cal right?).

You've clearly taken care of the "Compress enough powder in the case until it qualifies as a solid fuel" reloader crowd.

Hi,

Even then CS should not be needed, lol....

We are all pretty much former Mil over here and trust me..nobody has LESS of an emotional connection to a firearm than I do, lolol....well except certain people with files.....they make equipment for that shit and a file is not one of them, hahahaha

I truthfully think many wanted to, but my gut call (after reading regular posts, complaint posts before they even contact the MFG, and just lack of intelligence in general at times) MFG’s get tired.

But from what I’ve seen those same mfg’s havnt started with this level of transparency from day one, so Hoplite might be a different case going forward

What would the Hide be like if more major product company CEOs had an active presence like @THEIS ? Holy cow. It’s absolutely incredible that we get the candid unvarnished psychology behind Hoplite first hand from The Godfather. Thank you @THEIS

Hi,

It is a double edge sword though...in regards to the transparency aspect of things.

Some people will read this thread and be like "holy shit, they keep changing stuff".
Some people will read this thread and be like "holy shit, they are being open about the entire endeavor".

Some people will enjoy seeing what is typically behind the scenes only information and think better of Hoplite Arms.
Some people will think seeing all the behind the scenes stuff as just useless delays, etc.

For me personally and the rest of the guys at Hoplite Arms; we set out from the beginning to see just how transparent and "real time" information we could actually do and what kind of reaction the consumers and industry would have to that.

Some people can handle seeing changes in real time as I have shown here and love it.
Some people cannot handle that and will see it as a distraction.

For example---The bolt guide/bolt stop I showed last week....changing right now because after a few days and jacking around with things there could be that 1 in a 100 chance that someone needs those 2 extra pic rail slots in order for their mount/scope combination to get the best eye relief.

Most companies in our industry do not "go public" during development stages as we have so this is pretty new to the industry but I hope it will show others that there are better ways to build a customer base than pushing products to market as fast as possible and as cheap as possible.

Sincerely,
Theis

In sales across industries...the quiet ones put down PO’s, the ones who talk you up the most never buy anything.

Appreciation walks...money talks

Hi,

LOLOLOLOLOL That is a thread all within itself pertaining to Hoplite Arms....Over the past year the amount of POs I have tried to submit to companies in this industry with zero replies or the rare "Not interested" in doing such is mind-blowing.

I have to go get another protein coffee just thinking about that right now...
