This reminds me of a climbing trip to the Tetons when I was glissading down Middle Teton Glacier and one foot punched through into a crevasse. That knee went backwards. The next week was not kind. I went up and down stairs on my ass and ate ibuprofen. A week later we packed into the Wind Rivers and did a bunch of technical routes on peaks like Pingora, Warbonnet, etc. The young heal fast.

“US Army test Luger in 45 ACP. Two were made to compete against the 1911. Nobody knows what happened to them.”
From what I understand s/n 1 was destroyed in Army testing....believe it was around 1907ish was the testing time frame.

S/N 2 is owned by a private collector. An article was done on it around 1992 or so. I have the article. The owner let the magazine writers shoot it. At that time the gun was valued at $1M.

The gun was used/taken a part and measured and a private group made a limited run of pistols to duplicate the 45 Luger....I want to say those guns are going for $8k each all said and done. They make a limited run of them. Here is a link....

@502Chevelle an old friends recon team trained with Flipper and co about the same time that picture was taken in Bahrain. My friend told me stories of how horny the dolphins were and how they would occasionally Harvey Weinstein a Marine on a swim, the way he told the stories had 5 of us laughing so hard we were crying.
