Before the white man came to North America, the various roaming tribes who had settled in after having migrated there a long time prior, were busy brutally slaughtering each other and enslaving each other constantly and displacing each other.

I would NEVER suggest such a thing. I think that there is a fundamental failure of people, in general, to accept responsibility for certain actions. It always seems to be easier to kick a can down the road, and scream loudly about why there is no blame to be had. ("look, they did it, too" is the most common argument)

Prime example: it would be easy to admit that slavery was an epic fuck-up, if for no other reason, than the fallout that we have to deal with today. (and heaven forbid that we admit that enslaving humanity, in general, is messed up)

I'm actually more inclined to leave people the fuck alone, in the places that they're from, rather than trying to smother them with our Western ideals. I'm pretty sure the point here is that 99% of this forum seems to believe that white Christian males should be judged as individuals and that anybody who is not should be judged by group characteristics. It's absurd, and clearly not a conscious belief, as I think that same 99% if asked would say that everybody should be seen as an individual. So better just to start treating people like that. I'm not interested to live in the past, despite the fact that I'll point out the flaws in logic, whenever people make flawed arguments. Truth is, for everybody's pissing and moaning, it's all fairly masturbatory, if they can't/won't do anything to back it up.

I don't get caught up in the notion of "atonement". As I've stated before, I pretty much have respect for anyone who fights for what they believe in, and doesn't just bitch about it, point fingers at others, or spin conspiracy theories to downplay the loss of morale. One of the fundamental truths of the world, is that "might makes right". Doesn't really matter what you believe, or whether it's right or wrong. Whoever can kick the most ass, is in charge - simple as. And when a bigger ass kicker comes along, they're probably going to lose their place, too.

I distinctly believe that's the heart of this matter. Whether it's as "Christians" or "Americans", I think a whole lot of us know and understand, that we're not the only big kids on the block, anymore. And quite frankly, I think that scares the bejesus out of a whole lot of people.

I honestly don't care who worships what, as long as it isn't an expectation for everyone. It's just that I don't personally believe that "turning to the teachings of Christ" is a one-size-fits-all solution for everyone, as presented. It was an ironic/rhetorical statement. On one hand we're led to believe that it's the answer to everything, but on the other hand, it's where the frustration and confusion begins, for many. Although I do get that people who are inclined to believe in Jesus, have a much more simplistic outlook on the matter than I do.
