This one is going to be popular.

I try to stay well informed about COVID - mainstream, side stream, and back channel. My associations run to a lot of medical personnel including the head of hospital in my local AO and lots of nurses/doctors.

Was likely exposed in a restaurant setting. Basic contact tracing on my part indicates that every person that was at a certain restaurant meal with me became ill with the exact same symptoms roughly at the same time, and other associations that were at other events before that did not become ill.

Began suspecting covid when all 4 of the people at the meal began displaying symptoms.

In my case, I am experiencing traditional flu-like symptoms with the exception of a STRONG negative outcome for my smell/taste. This has never happened to me in any way during any previous illness. This symptom was present immediately before getting a PCR test.

All 4 individuals tested positive for COVID yesterday, at 3 different lab testing chains.

Our hospital is practically empty right now so I'm not worried about care if that becomes necessary - taking the standard Vitamin D and Zinc to work my way over this, as well as staying super hydrated.

So - ask me anything. :)

Here's some unsolicited advice from someone who took the COVID+ ride in Dec:

    - Go out today and buy yourself an oximeter. These can be purchased online or any CVS. Find your baseline 02 reading and check this several times a day. If it drops below 92-90, go straight to the ER.

    - Expect to see the worst symptoms somewhere between day 6-8 from onset. This is when a lot of people are able to fight off the virus, but develop SARS pneumonia... which is what kills them.

    - If you are in retirement age or significantly overweight, your chances of hospitalization increase significantly. Google "COVID hospitalization calculator", and several hospitals have published models such as this (example only): https://riskcalc.org/COVID19Hospitalization/

    - Find something strong smelling, and check it twice daily for smell sensory improvement. I used a deodorant stick, and couldn't smell anything for 3 days. On day 4 I could pick up a faint whiff, which was very encouraging.

In summary: Rest up, get up on some Netflix, and check your 02. Good luck.

Hope you do well with it.

IF you begin to have serious respiratory issues and hypoxia two monoclonal antibodies, bamlanivimab and etesevimab, are already approved by the FDA to prevent hospitalization. It’s a 1 hour infusion at a clinic or hospital in the emergency room as outpatient. They have been great at preventing worsening at the VA. Sorry I don’t have specific data yet.

Casirivimab 1200mg plus imdevimab 1200mg infusion is another outpatient option that you may have available. I can’t speak to their efficacy.

Ask your doc if ERGOCALCIFEROL (Vit. D2) 1,250 MCG (50,000 UNIT) might be good for you.

Good luck, get well, try not to infect anyone who doesn't deserve it.

Get well soon. Celebrate at a different restaurant.

What did you have to eat the night you got it? What was the judas meal? Lol
The Judas Meal was the finest hamburgers in the West.

My favorite part of all of this is people asking "where did you get it? are you going to sue them? tell me so I don't go there..."

Pan. Demic. Not Some Demic or No Demic. Pan.

Everyone is getting this at some point.

From Anecdotal evidence, it seems bodily fluids are one of the main ways this thing spreads.

I would be looking at dishes not properly washed or an infected cook or wait staff member, or like somebody was wiping down the plates / cups / silverware with a towel before putting them out etc.

Before long we may have to take a page out of places like Asia and such.

Back in the day, when you went to eat "native style" in Asia, as in eating where all the locals ate, the first thing they did was put a big glass bowl in the center of the table and pour a kettle of boiling water into it, and then you all rinsed your cups, bowls, plates and chopsticks in the boiling water and then they took it away and brought out the food which was all served steaming hot, in steaming hot serving dishes and of course the drink was either hot tea or beer.

-Excellent advice. I have a oximeter. My baseline is 97-98% sat. I'm at 97% right now, so doing well.

    - I am on day 6 or day 7.

    -I'm about 40 lbs overweight.

-All I have to do is fart. Allows me to check it more often than twice a day, and I will notice even a 1% recovery in smell.

    Back to hydrating.

    Fuck that.

Warn the chicoms they need to keep their bio weapons locked up, send Faucu to Mars, let Darwin sort it out, humanity overcomes another microbobe......FREEDOM!

    Hope you get well!
We have been drinking EmergenC. Seems to boost my immune system. I got really sick last year after a business trip last year. It was late Feb, 2020. Might have been Covid, never was tested, they tested me for flu, negative. All I know that EmergenC boosted me up!
    Good luck!

Yeah.... thats my weakness lol. If i was gonna get it a burger would be where i caught it. I know a place that makes the most amazing burger from ground brisket. May as well sue china lol.

It's been about 4.5 months since I got over this shit and I still can't smell or taste worth a shit. I'm starting to think this is as good as it's gonna get.

You should check with your primary care doc. There are some specific protocols for treatment that I believe include steroids and other anti viral meds that should lessen the symptoms and get you back on your feet faster.

I had it in late June of 2020, my wife about 4 days later. It was as they say 'a big nothing burger'. I've had flu that was worse. Keep in mind it has a 99.98% survivability if you're under 70.

    I'm about 40 lbs overweight.
Are you 40lbs overweight on the traditional BMI scale, or past what you consider your "fighting weight"? I will never forget a trip I took to my primary care physician about 5 years ago (who happens to be a scrawny little weasel boy) and he was looking down at my chart as he was talking to me. He said "I see you are about 15-20lbs overweight". I am 6', 200lbs. At the time I was probably going to the gym at least 5 days a week and was pretty obsessed with my fitness level. Rarely drank, ate very clean, burning lots of calories. At 200lbs, I could barely keep a 34" waist jean on without a belt. So without sounding like a narcissistic asshole, I was in pretty fucking good shape. I told the Doc he was an idiot and needed to rethink his definition of overweight.

Where I am curious as it relates to you is that do you consider yourself to be healthy otherwise? I have read a few articles that link Covid fatalities to people who are primarily
    1. Old
    2. Overweight or Obese
    3. Both

All the people that I have known that have gotten Covid have sailed through with either mild to flu-like symptoms, or not even known they have it. Sounds like you will plow through this in similar fashion.

Fighting weight for sure. I'm a big ass dude - when I'm at 185 I look like the Nazi's would have tossed my ass on the already dead pile.

I expect to breeze through this - I also am the sort of guy to be the only person on the ground to die in a helicopter crash. We'll see.

Just watch for the pneumonia, it can get bad quickly.
The taste/stench that occurred when my smell and taste started coming back was the worst, sweet chemical death scent.

How does the putang taste? Better or worse?
If there is a substantial difference in flavor between French kissing a chick up top vs down below, follow this remedial action drill:

    1. Check your sights. Elevation may be off.
    2. If your sights are off, don't immediately re-engage. Instead, undertake in a thorough cleaning regimen.
    3. Check the patient for signs she is from Eastern Europe. If so, abandon the firing line.
    4. Otherwise, use the Chem/Biowarfare kit on that thing. If the strips turn brown and start smoking, consider retreat. Administer atropine.

Taste and smell were gone for 3-4 weeks for me but the other symptoms were very very mild. I also have asthma and I'm very overweight. You'll be alright, just keep fapping and snorting zinc while shoving a banana up your ass....it works...Fauci said so.

The taste and smell thing is scary.... thats something going on in the brain. Its funny, you go eat out and get a cold or the flu and ya go home and heal up and nobody ever thinks "im not going back there again".... people.. if you didnt get food poisioning then please dont blame the food places. At best blame your own lazy ass for not wanting to cook. Sorry just had to rant.

Yeah - I for sure am going right back. Eat a burger. Joke some more...

Odd experience log entry - ordered SMOKING HOT buffalo wings for delivery.

Opened the box and it was like my nose got tasered. Like that one time in the Bahamas with the one chicks snapper.

Seriously never had an experience like this - it was almost seizurelike in its power. I think that the no-smell-at-all for a while has hypersensistized. Man - autocorrect is on vacation. At any rate, yeah it was nuts. Almost dropped my food.

...taking the standard Vitamin D and Zinc to work my way over this, as well as staying super hydrated.

People said, "take a vitamin D pill." Then people said, "vitamin D is a precursor of nitric oxide, take an arginine pill too." Some of this appears to be the same hopeful thinking that proposed this therapy for drug-resistant tuberculosis.

I do believe that part of our immune system is based on exposure to direct sunlight, and that laying out for 20 minutes a day at lunchtime is worthwhile. When it comes to supplementation, I'm holding out for the nitrous oxide study, myself.

    Hope you get better quickly.

I usually run to -15 on the vitamin D labs. Like my blood ate the reagent in a puff of smoke.

So for me taking it is a bit of a lark, and a good idea generally.

Sounds like youre done for Kingster. Send me your rifles and ammo.

On a less serious note, add selenium to your regimen. Its supposed to keep the virus from attaching to the cell wall. I started taking it about a year ago and usually get a winter cold at least. This year not even a sniffle.

Sinc yer gonna be locked down for a bit ya might want ta vet that Porn Hub Premium account . Get well soon .

I had it late January 2021, outside of losing my sense of smell and some of my taste it wasn't that big of a deal for me anyway.

Hoping its pretty much the same for you as well.

I'm not outputting anything except perfectly clear stuff. And all taste and smell is now gone 100%. I get sinus infections like a mofo, and this has no similarity.

Wonder how many cases are sinus infections?

I've been drinking Berocca since before the beginning of the pandemic to kick a pepsi habit. Dropped 50 pounds and get heavy doses of Vit B, C, and D as well as zinc. I didn't even catch a cold this winter. Fingers crossed the luck holds. Been around enough folks that had it.

100%! And the Berocca wasn't for the vitamins. It was because of the gurana. Each tab has a 2 cups of coffees worth of caffine. I use about 8 tabs a day. I am amazed that I can hit a fucking thing at the range!
