It's amazing to me that democrats continue to think that if you just give these people money they'll leave everyone alone and be peaceful, yet it never works, every time concessions are made (and there have been many) to the PA, the opposite of peace happens. It's either the leftists in Washington actually are that naive, or they are knowingly actively involved in funding terrorism, realistically probably many of both in the dem party.
PA and Hamas don't like each other at all. It isn't ideological, they just both want the money for themselves. Hamas likes to use it for this kind of shit, and PA likes to keep it in their own pockets. But that doesn't mean that the resumption of money payments doesn't incentivize this shit. Hamas knows what the signs mean. It doesn't have to be the same dollars that pay for the missiles to be a direct result of awful policy.
I think you would hate them too if you were in their place, living in what is effectively an open air prison and zero life prospects.

The most surprising thing about the Holocaust was that it happened in Germany, and not in France. In a lot of ways, Jews can trace "good" societies to live in back to Calivin, which is why the US hasn't always been perfect, but pretty fucking good, as have many of the Northern European countries, and bad societies to live in back to Catholicism and Luther. A lot of this goes back simply to the theological underpinnings of how the different strains see the Jews covenant with God.
And it wasn't just back in the day, when I was a kid, in the early 80s, in California, people wouldn't sell us a house because we were Jews, we couldn't go as guests, let alone members, at many clubs etc. And it wasn't just Jews. Asians too. Asians, at this point, get it worse than anybody with college admissions etc.
Not to get into the religion of it, but the most surprising, and disheartening, thing to me is how many Jews can get on board with all of the BLM, reparations, critical race bullshit. I mean, we are talking about a race (religion, whatever you want to call it) that lived, and died, under the words "his blood is on us and on our children." Yeah, I mean they are all fucking garbage, but they destroy the lives of their people in slightly different ways. I do feel for the Palestinian people. It is hard to sometimes when you see them cheering the destruction, but they really have had the worst, most corrupt political leadership possible, and that leadership saw very early on how profitable it was to keep their people as poor as dirt.

Its interesting seeing the extreme views from both sides. On my social media, any celeb that is left leaning is shedding tears for palestine, and condemning Israel. Then its the exact opposite for the majority or conservative celebs I follow.

What's still shocking to me is how many (a majority I'd venture) American brethren still are either leftists or hard-core leftists. I get that they are scared of nationalism; but at what point is the obvious...well...obvious? That's what baffles my mind. Even in Israel there is the left trying to "make peace" with these people. Truly, most leftists have an issue with cause/effect analysis....or maybe they don't.
It's both difficult and easy to understand. See my post above for part of it. The other part is pretty simple. Jews are like most other groups in that the more secular and educated they are, the more liberal they are. Orthodox Jews are very conservative politically, conservative Jews (conservative being the name of a certain way of being a Jew) are a bit more politically mixed, but still more conservative than now. Reform Jews are extremely left wing, though no more so than the other non Jews in their peer groups. It just so happens that, for many reasons, a much higher percentage of Jews are reform than other. A lot of it is really the fault of the more traditional types of Jews. Christians make it much easier to be an orthodox Christian (meaning normal Evangelical) than do Orthodox Jews. It is very difficult to live that life. Additionally, people who were obviously Jewish didn't fare so well for 1700 or so years in Europe, so they migrated away from their more traditional stuff.
Now, that is not all of it, but it explains a much greater proportion than do some of the weird theories about this and that. I think you are right that there is some fear of nationalism, though Israel is arguably the most nationalist healthy country in the world. I keep hoping that they will see the light, and am often convinced of it, only to be disappointed.
I guess when I mentioned nationalism, I was implying in the USA; I wasn't clear. Because they associate "right wing" with Nazi somehow I believe. However, they must have missed the class where Hitler took over completely through legal means and that it was a Socialist party who was indeed nationalist (obviously, right?) But country-first has been corrupted by the liberal propaganda machine (note, I do not view this a "press") into nationalism associated with the Nazi party.
I'd argue that while they called themselves National Socialist, they were truly a third way economy, where private industry could be private as long as it worked for the regime. I'd actually argue that is a much better description of the Democrat party than is socialist or communist as well. But the Nazis did define themselves as third way, as did the fascists in Italy and Franco in Spain, and I actually think it is a good description. It isn't right wing, it is a triangle.
I did understand you meant in the USA, but it isn't just the USA, it is the US and Europe, and to answer the question, I think it is an artifact of the histories of those populations. Russian immigrant Jews, both to Israel and the US, tend to be much more comfortable with Nationalism, probably because they got fucked by its opponent, Communism. But at least in Israel, they are fervent nationalists. Some here too, depending on date of entry.
I think it is also worth noting that, at this point in time, Jews are treated better in the more nationalist western countries than in the more socialist. It's probably time they recognize that.
That's a different take, and one I cannot argue against. It's kind of like my "political circle" that says one can go so far to the left they on the right, and so far to the right one is on the left. Not quite that simple; but the point is, at some point far left and super far right have very similar qualities.
