I've worked 30hrs of overtime to be paid in my next check, had planned to give cash to my grandkids for Christmas and buy a new 9mm. But I am blessed with more than I need, and feeling compelled to donate to our current disaster. Hate the idea of "charities" that pay themselves exorbitant salaries. So I'm looking for advice on where my money would do the most good?? I was thinking red cross.

Good question about donating......... Rebuilding is going to be a long, tough row to hoe..... It always has been in tornado alley..... Might be a good idea to just put that money away and stay tuned to how the clean up is going. Historically there have been church caravans and other charities hauling building materials and supplies into the storm stricken areas... One of the women country music singers loaded her own vehicles with supplies and lead a caravan into Louisiana or Mississippi after a hurricane.

I don't have any advise for you except that Red Cross could be the grandfather of the pay yourself first charities. The CEO made $694k in 2018.
United Way is no better, CEO in 2019 1.6 million!
Some charity!
We donate direct, sites that are trucking in relief and supplies to provide direct support.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know, I went to Miami after Hurricane Andrew, so I can certainly empathize. I'm off 11 days for Christmas, I might try and join a local group going that way to volunteer my time.

Shake these up a little, see what happens
