So Ive gone away and thought about it for a few days and I think this is a good way to aproach it. Right now my favourite is the March 3-24-52 but Ill watch the release of the steiner tx5i tactical series and the new razor series see how they rate and what it does to the scope market.
So i know what i want i just haven't found it yet hoping someone with more experience can chime in and enlighten me. So this is the rifle its a SAC built 18.5 inch short rifle I use for goat and hog extermination and all of my hunts/home killed beef currently I have a aimpoint H-1 as a second...
looking at a second sight not sure which one as ive never owned one or even held one! im looking at the docter red dot the burris fastfire 3 3 Moa dot leupold delta point aimpoint micro any thoughts or suggestions im only doing it once for both of my hunting rifles so I wanna buy...
so by the sounds of this i would need a faster twist rate to utilise heavier pill's, could anyone chime in as to weather this would be worth it, Running it through JBM ballistics it looks like it could be for the extra impact ft pounds and wind resistance
Using cast projectiles figure the heavier they are the more momentum they have and why not get the benefit of the heavier projectile's impact. Would there be enough powder capacity in a 510 whisper to get a 1250 gr slug to 1050 fps
Looking to build a 510whisper/338 lapau switch barrel few questions about the calibres with the 510 just trying to make a bowling ball launcher for quiet subsonic hog hunting. As for the 338 lapau just using it for target and some long range hunting I really wanted to shoot cast 1250 gr...
Just get whatever calibre you want and then melanite or salt bath nitride the barrel, it gives you thice the barrel length and 5% free fps, i think mine cost 120 to get a bartlien barrel done so in my mind thats quiet equitable and i love the tough black finish it leaves.
