Finally did the OCW right this time..lesson learned, read the instructions 100% and round robin it instead of shooting 3 round dot drills lol Ok so here are the results, I slipped a round at 43.3 so that is my bad. Another question I have is my warm up/sighters using five different charges...
Glad I'm not the only one, I first reloaded my precision 308 using the older paper boxed SMKs, which compared to the current ones in plastic boxes the base to ogive measurements were WAY LONGER.
Thanks for all the feedback on SH MY application is precision shooting, smallest group I can get out of a factory R700 LTR (I will rebarrel soon...) sitting on a chassis system Sub moa and to Half MOA once I rebarrel is my goal
I'll have to try 43.2 grains of 4064 with the 168 sierras I tested 3 nodes on Monday, 42.2, 42.5, 42.8 they honestly all shot the same... can't really freaking tell :( I'll have to try the 43.2 to see if it's tighter
Trying to see if it's worth the $70 for 100 pieces of Lapua brass... are they consistent by weight in each lot? or should I just stick with Winchester? 308 Win is the caliber btw
Tag trying to find that sweet spot also 43.6 of IMR 4064 with a 168 SMK did give me sub moa groups however those were the OLDER Sierra bullets going to test a new load tomorrow, will update my results
thanks for the replies, now to add another question is it ideal to test loads on the bench or on prone? I too also use a harris with a rear sand bag, and can anyone recommend a GOOD rear bag?
I am wondering what is the best way to test reloads on a precision rig? bipod, sandbags, shooting rest etc etc which gave you guys the best accuracy and stability?
I can personally vouch for this I loaded up some PV's 168 seconds, and my groups were awful, I'm talking 1.3 moa awful at 100 yards, switched to factory 168 Sierras and boom, sub moa all day long the factory seconds sitting in my storage will be used for random 308 plinking rounds for anything...
also tagged I'm currently loading Win brass/primer with 43.6 grains of 4064 pushing a 168 Sierra maybe I will work up another node using 42.5 as the medium
I am about to pick up an AICS 2.0 in FDE now I know this is the newer gen with the new skins, is it true that the chassis is wider to accommodate an aftermarket Timney Trigger? here is an example http://i.imgur.com/zk4km.jpg
so I just got back from my friend's house plugged his power source into my RCBS Chargemaster and nothing.... so it's broken well this sucks any ideas on what to do?
