    7mm-08

I run the 162's at 2760 fps with h4350 for my competition load, With viht n550 I have a nice node at 2850 fps, but it's hot and wrecks primer pockets after x3 firings. also a nice backup bullet for me is the 175smk with h4350 OR n550 at 2640fps. Lovely ballistics on both bullets, and I've...

7mm-08s ... What are you shooting?

162 amax + H4350 is my main load, (viht n550 backup powder) 175 smk + viht n550 is my backup load... Which I'm now switching to because of the shortages. I have a 28" 1-8 twist Bartlein, only one way to really know if your barrel will push the 175's... Try a box :) viht n550 gives me...

    higher BC or higher MV?

Consider the application of your bullet too.. If your shooting a lot of Unknown distance targets for example, You may find it beneficial to go for a lighter bullet travelling faster/flatter trajectory, to give you more room for error in your range estimation..

Need help with subsonic 338LM loads

My mate just developed some .338 subs last week, and said they run beautiful. Trailboss 77% fill ratio (hornady brass) with 300grn SMK's, 1080fps. (Tested up to +63'C) That's all the info I have at the moment, I'll try and bump him for the exact load, but basically it is possible :)

Question regarding Varget loads for 22-250 using 50 grain V-Max

I was using 37.2grn Varget for the 52amax, Winchester brass, bullit seated long, great accuracy and only just starting to flatten primers out a little. Currently using 40.5grn (case FULL!) with a 40grn vmax crunched on top, Shoots like a laser out to 300yrds, excellent for vermin control...

Favorite Long range Bullet for 7m-08

162 amax for me, @2850fps I've also used about x500 175 SMK's, accuracy was outstanding, but could only get them to 2650fps within my highest accuracy node before pressure. The faster 162 amax slightly outperforms the 175 smk at my velocities, But would recommend either bullet. Assuming your...

260 help.... the pressure is on!

OP, any idea what barrel is on your AX? Reason I ask is, over here in the UK, AI use border barrels, and back in December 2011 my mate had the very first .260 AIAX in the country, (had to special order it and wait for a few months because the AX hadnt been up and running very long, and they...

    Which Neck Turning Setup?

K&M hand turner for me, and case pilot chucked in an electric screwdriver/drill. Also the K&M expandiron. If I already had the forster case trimmer setup (I use Wilson) Then I'd probably look at the forster too. Sinclair is another popular option.

With Ww brass being a bit thinner on the neck anyway, There's a good chance you won't have any problems mate, Good luck!

    308 to 7mm-08 brass prep ???

What brass are you sizing down? Lapua? If its for a standard 708 chamber you might not need to do anything, just size down/normal prep and shoot. Measure the OD of a fired neck in the 708, Make up a dummy round with your sized down brass and compare the OD with the bullet seated, and if your...

    Wet Tumbler RPM range?

Re: Wet Tumbler RPM range? That wasn't a direct drive off the shaft by the way.. The drum was geared down, I don't know what the actual motor shaft rpm was..

    Wet Tumbler RPM range?

Re: Wet Tumbler RPM range? My homemade effort was turning at 50rpm, and that was a bit too fast, Centrifugal force was keeping the brass pinned to the outside of the drum too much and not 'tumbling' the contents enough. Baffles inside the drum to 'agitate' the brass/steel pins made it worse...

    Another annealling question.

Re: Another annealling question. I've just hit the exact same thing whilst setting up my bench source.. I've annealed by hand (battery drill) for couple of years no problem, But this is my first time trying to anneal my 708 brass, and I've wrecked about 20 cases so far.. necks glowing...

Redding type S bushings for necking down in steps.

Re: Redding type S bushings for necking down in steps. You can always run a case thru your S die without a bushing in first.. Then put the bushing in for the final pass.. Try it, check runout, and see if it works BEFORE spending dollars on intermediate dies/bushings. I sized down .308-708 no...
