    Gunsmithing Glass bedding Savage

The accustocks ears pretty much keep you from being able to bed it properly. Is there a reason you want to bed it? Most savages that come w/ the accustock are shooting sub MOA to begin w/ and you really wouldn't gain much by glass bedding.

Gunsmithing Lathe Identification and will it work for barrel work

Buy a trash can so you have a place to put that miller high life you have sitting in the background of one of those pictures!

    Gunsmithing Adding a Freeland Rail?

I am not sure that they would sit flush inside of the rail... Here is a picture of one of the countersunk screws that was holding it into the wood stock. and a picture of what your recommending. I don't know the screw head size on these to know if they would interfere w/ the stuff I would...

    Gunsmithing Adding a Freeland Rail?

I have this rail off of a Remington 40x wood stock from the CMP. I am considering putting it on a McMillan HTG. It was originally held on w/ some wood screws, but they are VERY chewed up from getting them out. First question, is what do I need to measure to know if I have a freeland or...

6mm Build I have been kicking around

I can hold my own in the wind. this 6mm will still have significantly less than the .308 I am selling to help fund it, and that's all that matters.

6mm Build I have been kicking around

Not worried about brass availability, if it shoots sub moa out to 850 or so that's all that matters to me. a 12 inch group at 1k will be an accomplishment for me w/ the type of winds I shoot in here. I really doubt I am a good enough shooter to notice a difference between GREAT handloads in...

6mm Build I have been kicking around

I don't want a .243 just seems to plain. 6mm Remington AI is what I am going with. I have wanted to try one for a long time.

6mm Build I have been kicking around

I agree with all of the above. I plan on pushing these bullets and the longer neck over the .243 and other similar class cartridges from what I understand will really help with barrel life. 2,000 rounds is my goal and I doubt I will struggle to attain that. I don't think you could burn a...

6mm Build I have been kicking around

I love my alpha mags on my short action. Had to tweek the feed lips just a bit but they have been perfect since then. and they are much shorter than that AI 10 rounders.

6mm Build I have been kicking around

Good questions.... Long action because I am planning on PUSHING these bullets, so I don't know what barrel life it is. I can do almost any caliber I want with a rebarrel, not true for the short action. And I plan on loading them long and don't have the action already so its cheaper to just get...

6mm Build I have been kicking around

Not really any questions, just figured I would enjoy a little discussion and see what yall thought about this build concept since I am getting close to pulling the trigger. 6mm Remington AI Fluted 8 twist finished at around 27 inches long, threaded w/ protector med varmint contour Remmy...

Gunsmithing Why do savage owners love nuts?

You have never changed a barrel on a savage have you? If you had, you wouldn't have to ask this question. The barrel nut system is one of the main reasons for savages popularity.

    Gunsmithing Bolt vs. reciever tolerance

I don't think I am a good enough shooter to tell the difference between a .25 rifle and a .5 rifle, or a .5 and a .75 rifle. I would be able to tell if it were picky w/ ammo though as most of us would. I had not taken into account the thickness of cerekote which would be .004 value. if the...

Maggie’s Day Two.. I think these fuckers are trying to kill me

I am with everyone else, and surprised that you said you would set your alarm only a "few" minutes earlier.... seems to me if you were late ONCE, you would be setting your alarm 30 minutes earlier... which is more important, an extra half hour of sleep, or a job?
