Anyone Running a 7 Mag to aMile?

I run the 195 Berger EOL hybrid out of a Rem 700 26" bbl 7mm Rem Mag at almost 3000 fps from ~71g Retumbo. Longest shot to date 1906 yards. But I also shoot in Colorado, at 6000' ASL, so the factory 9.5" twist doesn't subtract from the stability as much as it would at lower elevations. only ~2%...

Building an "ELR" Rifle - 28 Nosler?

I have been shooting a Rem 700 Long Range 26" factory bbl with the 195 Berger Hybrid at 2950 fps... the velocity is higher than I expected, but I have verified with Magnetospeed and with dope. It appears that the new 180 ELD has G7 = .401 / G1= .796, which beats the Berger's .387 / .754...

Experienced first pressure signs with new load

No, it's a new Remington 700. Just out of curiosity, what pressure does QL say that book max (47.0) gets?

Experienced first pressure signs with new load

I was hoping I could convince myself that backing off 0.3 gr would be enough, but I think that's probably not enough... I may end up going down further as you suggest. No need to risk it for a few extra FPS.

Experienced first pressure signs with new load

I worked up a new load for my 6.5x55 with H4831s, Berger 140gr Hybrids and Hornady 5x fired brass last week at the range. Shooting in the shade and 65 Degree weather, I went from 45.0 grains up to 51.1 with no pressure signs. I knew 51.2 was a hot but fast/accurate load from another reloader, so...

    6.5x55 Swede users?

Well, you can get a gunsmith to ream out your bolt face a few thousandths, sand down the case head on the brass a few thousandths, deal with shoddy extraction, or swap out for American brass. I went down the same path with my rifle. The first time I tried to run the lapua brass trough it, the...

    6.5x55 Swede users?

EasyGravy, I had a Rem700 .30-06 that I had rechambered for 6.5x55. Long story short, American made (.30-06) bolt faces are not the same size as true 6.5x55 specs. They are a bit smaller. So true 6.5x55 brass will have a tough time fitting a rem bolt face. However, I've found that American...

    6.5x55 Swede users?

EasyGravy, My previous load was 4350 with Hornady brass. Did OK overall. I think my load was 45.9gr. Lapua brass didn't fit my bolt face. TeaRex

    6.5x55 Swede users?

I worked up a new load today with OCW that ended up being very similar to loads that others have suggested for 140 gr Berger Hybrids and H4831sc. Final load was 50.9 gr of powder, loaded to 2.483" to ogive. Shooting was done from a bipod and rear bag with a 24" bbl and TBAC 30-PS suppressor...

Member Link Up Colorado: Places to Shoot, People to Shoot With

So today I ventured out for my first shooting in Colorado, and my first shooting on public land. I had heard that there was good shooting to be had at Pike National Forest, so I left Denver at 9am today to go shooting. After driving a good ways into the park down Rampart Range Road trying to...
