I'm looking to start a new build, I'm a long range bolt action guy. I already have a .308 built and a .338 lapua. I have a .22 trainer type gun as well. So, let's pretend you have a decent budget (3-4k, not including the scope). What should be the next caliber I put in my gun safe?

Johnny Sasaki, Thanks, I guess I should have specified on my target, it has the .230" number underlined. I measured the outside then subtracted .308 (bullet diameter). But I like your number better anyway. We'll go with it. -Wally

I just got my Savage back after having it trued and re-barreled. I went with a Bartlein 9.5 twist. Had a new muzzle brake put on and re zeroed at one hundred yards. I've used the factory rail (20 moa) and Barrett 'ex-rings'. After a few trials involving spacing with the rings I was able to gain...

Honestly I'm replacing because I'm a tinkerer, looking for added velocity, more consistent barrel temp (heating and cooling) and gain in accuracy. My factory tube is getting me .62 inches at 100 yards (during load development) 1.9 inches at 300 yards, and MOA accuracy at 1000+. I don't think...

Re-barreling my savage 110 .338 lapua with a 30" Bartlein. Rumor has it a 30" barrel is too much weight and can potentially stress the action and cause "barrel whip". Anyone have any thoughts or experience with such a thing. 30" heavy varmint taper + muzzle brake. -W

Found some BR-2's, I am curious what to expect switching from WLR's. I.e. velocity change, p.o.i. shift, consistency, better groups? (I'm really hoping to drop the flyer in my 5 shot groups) .308 win 43.2g varget 24" bbl 1/10 twist (Best group is a .330" center to center, 5 shot)
