My initial review of a March 3-24x42 I have on my hunting rig: - The scope size is excellent. Compact, low turrets, and low weight. This is a nice relief from tactical scopes that are very big, bulky, heavy and getting worse in all three of those...
Blaser barrels are nitride coated and extremely hard metal. They are hard to scratch, but may develop some small rust spots if left wet for a while but it easily cleans off and won't affect anything. This almost looks like suppressor damage from being stored with a suppressor on and not being...
When I saw that TRG in 6.5 Swede in the store I knew it would be coming home with me. The Swede doesn't have the power of larger calibers, but it seems to do the business with a carefully placed shot. I use 140SST, but also will be trying 140 partitions based on recommendations from Nathan...
Sako TRG-S M995 in 6.5 Swede took a fallow deer for me at 170 yards seated sling supported this weekend. I was helping to cull a herd on a friend's farm. Heart shot animal with 140gr SST ran about 20 yards before tipping over. The bullet entered breaking the shoulder, pulverized the heart, and...
I have thousands of rounds through my TRG-22 and have never seen anything like that. Looks like hot loads letting gasses out around the primer and damaging the bolt face. In fairness to the designers of the TRG, the stock was not made for an external bipod to be attached to the fore end. It was...
Took my TRG-42 in 338LM out this weekend for some shooting in South Island, New Zealand. Shot 6 out of 6 on an IPSC target at 1813 yards. Load is 285gr Hornady running ADI 2217 at 2761fps. My TRG-42 can do nearly one hole groups in 338LM at 100 yards. It routinely shoots sub 0.25MOA with very...
I have the AWSM 338 with 300WM conversion non-folder. I think the AW style has a better balance and feels lighter than the AXMC I handled even though I think both are about the same weight in 338. You should try to feel both. The AX stock is more adjustable, but the AW stock is simpler with...
The TRG is basically a ruggedized target rifle platform. The stock was designed for positional shooting and field positions. I have used mine for field matches and PRS style for years and it works great. Prone with the TRG bipod is excellent. Also no problem using it with a Hog Saddle, although...
The TRG shoots as well as any custom I've handled, and likely better than most. For accessories, buy the bipod and a couple spare mags and call it a day. They are not expensive because they work. People complain about the bipod price, but an Atlas bipod, mounts, accessory feet, etc. cost as much...
I have a Sako TRG-S in 6.5 swede which is just a shade under 8lbs empty w/o scope and 9.5lbs with adjustable Zeiss HD5 scope and Sako rings. It is the TRG action in a much lighter stock and far cheaper price used. The Carbon Wolf looks nice, but at 1/4th the price a used TRG-S is a much better...
The rifles are designed for field use and are not target guns. An 8-10oz break is likely well below the design threshold and is not safe for field use. I'd just leave it alone. The trigger groups are something like $400+ dollars to replace if you break them.
You can run the old or new trigger in the TRG. I have both. The older trigger is better for target use as I find it more precise. The newer trigger is probably more robust because they removed a lot of adjustments that people got into trouble with. Your trigger may in fact be fine if you have...
