Well we’re having to go through it again. Just had to put my old squirrel dog lady down yesterday. She’s been retired for several years now and just did what she wanted rather it was laying on the couch or treeing yard squirrels.

Any time a gun or bow came out she was right there! The one pic is her lying in the shooting lane. Got tired of walking back and forth to get arrows lol. (No shots fired over her lol) One waiting on my wife to get home and one doing her favorite pastime.
We’ll miss you Lady

Sorry for your loss.

Our new foster fail JoJo. We started fostering her 2 months ago, she is such an awesome dog we decided to keep her. Approximately 4 yo Belgian Malinois that follows me like a shadow, smart as a whip and fast as hell. She loves the water so I'm going to see if dock diving may be in her future. The first picture is Jo trying to figure out why the mannequin at Cabelas won't pet her.

So badass, you're going to love that dog to pieces, so so loyal.
Not to stomp on your cool pics but here's my girls, like the Belgian M, mine are dutch Sheppard's.

I joke and say, I have to keep my tool box locked or else the dogs are going to use my tools to break free.
These characters are beyond smart

This is our rescue dog. She came with a lot of baggage from her past. Almost 2 years later she continues to emerge from her shell. A few weeks ago she finally found her voice and began barking and playing with the wife.

She really comes alive playing with other dogs.

The little guy will have trial by fire this summer. The big guy will have his back, but coyotes come in waves, they are tricky and dogs need brute force. IT doesn't matter so much the breed , Shepards, Rotts, big labs all do well. Heck I know a rancher whose border collies killed coyotes in his yard.

If your talking about the squirrel, he's thinking I'm glad she's not 2 years younger lol. She would have snatched him off the side of the tree in a heartbeat!!

She's been the demise of more squirrels than you could fit in a pick-up bed.
At 13 my wolfdog Nikita still kills every squirrel that foolishly blunders into the yard. Possum and skunks get no quarter. Second photo is her nursing a litter, best mother you could imagine. She gave me 21 pups in all in 3 litters. As soon as they were old enough she'd terrorize them, grab them by the head and drag them until the ran under the tractor. Never hurt them, just taught them to be tough and unafraid. I watched her put a female German Shepherd that weighed 20 pounds more than she does, on its back in a split second. Shes still healthy but I dread that day.

Back in April I took Cedar on a chukar hunt for her birthday and for what was our last hunt of the season for some preserve Chukars. This was Cedar's first time seeing Chukars since her training last August and the first time we got on birds since hunting pheasant on the SGL over New Years.

We went out with my Dad, Brother and a good friend of ours and had a great time. Dad was busy during pheasant season so this was his first time hunting over her and I had told our friend we would go bird hunting with him but we were busy all winter and I was waiting for the right time to go out.

She ended up doing better than expected, she hunted close, retrieved everything back to someone and she was able to put up 14 of the 16 birds they put out. I attribute her missing the last two due to a combination of heat, low wind and her stamina being lower as since the baby was born my wife hasn't been walking her an hour or more everyday like she used to. By the end of 2 hours she had covered over 6 miles, she was definitely getting tired and the extra heat and low wind didn't help. The heat did help her enthusiasm flopping into every mud puddle she could find though.

I also confirmed that she will in fact point planted Chukars, It isn't a staunch point from a long way off like a true pointer but it does give us a chance to catch up to her. I can also tell when she sees the bird as her tail stops wagging, if it's still wagging she smells it but hasn't seen it yet. Plus half the time she would actually lock up and I'd have to give her the free command and then she would pounce into the bushes.

Overall we had a great time and this fall we will be doing a combination of preserve hunts, pheasant hunts on state game lands and even buying some birds to set out on our own property. With how well she is doing next season is going to be a ton of fun.
