300 PRC

This is 75.5gn H1000. There is no heavy bolt lift.

If you get "clickers" when opening your bolt, the sammi chamber is too tight. The Alex Wheeler 2 "AW2" reamer opens the back of your chamber a couple of thousands of an inch. This is to give more clearance for extraction.

Did a velocity ladder test today, 75.6, 75.8, 76 and 76.2 was all within FPS!!!!! The second charge was 5fps slower, the other 3 charges was exactly the same speed! Ran the test all the way to 77.6gr and only then ran into a very faint ejector mark, primer still looked fine and bolt opened like everything else.

Zero pressure signs, touching the lands so I'm going to run 76gr and never look back!

Anyone loading Hornady 212?
I was using V550, 80gr, on a 26” DT barrel and pushing 3025 - 3050. Started seeing just the slightest primer flatting. Groups were .7 but recoil was pretty stiff.

What about a 10 twist if a guy was going to stay with the 212-215 bullets ? I've got an old shilen that was pulled off my winmag with 180ish rounds on it. Thought about trying a prc in it after my current winmag is done.

You aren't taking full advantage of the cartridge with those bullets but other than that go hard.

I don't know anything about the AW2 chamber you mention. My 300prc is the standard chamber. FWIW , I use N565 in my with 230 A-TIPs. In initial testing I did try using with the 230 A-tip and was up to 79gr of H1000 with no issue. Never tried that 230otm your using.
Im a big fan of that combo! I found that 76.9 grains of N565 or H1000 works great with the 230 ATIP projectiles in a 1 in 8 twist barrel for a MK22.

I'm developing a load for a new 300 PRC barrel. so far I have tried:

1. H1000 with Berger 220 LRHT
2. N565 with Berger 220 LRHT
3. N565 with Berger 215 HT
4. N570 with Berger 245gr LRHT

- 3 has the smallest groups but very high ES/SDs
- 4 has endless vertical strings
- 1 groups well but has higher ES/SD than 2
- 2 has the lowest ES/SD but does not group as well as 1

I'm continuing with 1 & 2, trying with different primes now.
Im having almost exactly the same results with these combos.

New rifle put together for my elk hunt last year. Have about 100rds down and the barrel has started to speed up. Had about a month to get everything dialed in. Hammer hunters did the job. 485yds, total dirtnap

Hammer Hunter 199gr
H1000 80gr

Right at 100 rds with this rifle. Defiance Ruckus, Bartlein 8.5 twist finished at 24"

5 shot zero at 100 and all other groups out to 300 are right at .4 MOA with the current load.

81.5 grs N570
245 Berger LRHT
CCI 250
.020 off
2825 FPS

Retumbo is also showing some promise around 2770 FPS but I need to test at longer range.

I ran my 21st Century 30cal Turning mandrel through 50pc of new ADG 300 PRC brass, chamfer/debur and primed with 215's.

Loaded up 10rd each H1000 under 215 Berger

77.5
78.0
78.5
79.0
79.5

Im working up loads for my dad 300 prc berger 245 loaded around 3.750 n568 79.3 grains with drop tube. Shot 80 grains felt like it was getting hot..... but tested 79 with great results now came back 79 78 and some 77 grains open stiffer and click..... I have the shortaction dies. I took measurements and dont see anything concerning. Maybe chamber is tight or what do you 300 prc guys think

Just got back from shooting this 30" PVA Osprey 1-9 300PRC for the first time

I shot 5 foulers I loaded to get a rough zero at 100yd...

I then shot these 2 five shot groups with my first 2 charge weights at 100yd... not bad for my first time loading or shooting the 300 PRC..

I then shot the 5rds of the next charge weight.. 78.5gr that meadurd 0.930" @ 200yd and stopped there. I was starting to get light ejector marks on the case head. I didnt shoot thr 79.0 and 79.5gr I had loaded. Ill pull them

Going to throw in my .02 fwiw based on my experience with the 300prc and other .30cals.
With what I'm seeing and reading in your post this is a new barrel, I wouldn't spend a bunch of time and components till barrel is broke in, say 100-150 rounds down tube.
.2 increments are a waste imo when using that much H1000 or a lot of other powder. I use .3-.4 increments for testing in the range you're using for charge weights in loads.
If I were you, I'd load up 50 of that 77.5 load ,zero and shoot at distance. See how it truly performs and break barrel in at same time, keeping track of velocity along the way.

I dont do sny load development until I have 100pc of fireformed brass with any new rifle. I have to pull these 20rds and reload them along with the other 50. Once I have all 100pc of 1x fired ill proceed with my testing noted above.
