So what gives?


I have been all over, one state you could eat inside without a mask IF you had the government shot, every place just posted the flyer and proceeded to not give a fuck.

Airlines are super covid nazis, I mean even if you have a mask it has to be the correct one, even though a neck gater works better than the hand out masks where you can feel your breath pass out the sides

But muh federal lawz, we’ll lots of fed laws get ignored and no one gives a fuck

Lest I even get into the unsecured kids one severe turbulence away from snapping their chicken necks, or the yuuuge lady who clearly doesn’t fit in her seat.

So what being a covid cop part of getting that sweet bailout money or something?
 
Everything most of these places are doing, is to collect federal money. Its the same with schools. Schools get funding to have things like serial testing. Schools get paid to get students signed up to randomly test for COVID. They get paid when they quarantine 100 healthy and 1 kid with "possible COVID" and their obligations to that child are waived by the state. Unless they are on an IEP, then the teachers have to meet extra requirements for a student on an IEP that misses school due to quarantine.

All you need is a serial tester who pops a false positive, and you have 100 kids sent home. But kids who are in the serial testing program don't have to quarantine, kids who wear masks don't have to quarantine. Remember all that "my mask protects you, yours protects me." :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:Trust the science, even though nothing we are doing is scientific.

Try being an airline employee dealing with this horseshit...

TSA set the requirement for facial coverings on all public transportation. Like/agree with that requirement or not, airlines have to abide by TSA requirements lest they get fined to the moon and put their FAA operating certificate at risk. Combine this with increasing numbers of passengers (many of whom don't like the mask mandate) acting like total dickholes and yeah, you're gonna get some flight attendants or gate/airport staff telling you to put your mask on or deal with the consequences.

Hell, I was sitting in the (almost empty) Denver airport in June 2020 (before any TSA mask mandate) about 200' away from any other living soul and had an airport cleaner walk up and tell me to put my mask on as it was an airport requirement. Why? ThE sCiEnCe I guess, even though I was excessively social distanced.

Bottom line: you knew the requirement when you bought your ticket, you don't have to like it but accept it, your alternative is to drive or stop being a poor and fly bizav.

On Sniper's Hide, we are pretty big on personal responsibility...right? Compliance with 'the law' so you don't get shot by a LEO...right?

So how exactly does that track with somebody buying an airline ticket, knowing full fucking well they will be REQUIRED to wear a facial covering cuz they've got to click through a half-dozen acknowledgements from reservation to check-in, then the same person bitching about that requirement? It wasn't exactly a surprise...

Don't get me wrong, aviation is my profession so I'm required to abide by this horseshit and *absolutely hate* it as much as the next person...but a personal dislike of requirements doesn't mean I get to not comply. I'd prefer all people actually concerned about COVID make the choice to wear a N95 while the rest of us fully resume our lives...but I don't get to make that call, especially with regards to public transportation.

If this thread is meant to be catharsis...well then vent away, odds are good a significant majority of airline employees will be in agreement.

What they need to do is ban the vax for pilots since they know about all the serious side effects. It’s going to be bad if they ground all the pilots who got the vax. That will be over 70% of all ATP pilots in the US I bet. The army has already been grounding pilots who got the jab.

These are not laws, they are mandates, handed down by executive officials who are specifically restrained from doing so by the constitution and enforced by using facism. So what does this have to do with following the law, when the law was broken to make the mandate? Now you are framing it much more like a "just follow orders" situation. I don't think anybody is concerned about that.

With most US airlines at 80% or greater vaccination rates of their pilots totaling well into the tens of thousands....if vaccine-related side effects impacting the exercise of Class I medical happened with any frequency we'd know about it by now.

The last 5 times I've flown (all recent), there were multiple mask violations by people on board and in the airports. I was asked only 2x to put mine back on. For the most part, people were ignoring the rule and flight attendants didn't really care.

Well since we still don’t know what the long term side effects might be, they should be very concerned. Especially with all the additional boosters that they will be pushing.

Fuck the airlines.

They got the largest bailout during COVID, and part of that stipulation was to keep on employees for ~X amount of months. Once that timeline expired, they fired a bunch of employees. Now that things are picking back up, they are whining about not having enough employees. They can go fuck themselves, pure corporate greed that got them, and we the taxpayers floated that nonsense (and gained nothing from it, really).

That said, I feel bad for the airline employees that have to put up with an insane amount of BS, from all sides. They are stuck in the middle, having to enforce asinine and arbitrary laws from the government, while being the face of those policies and taking the feedback from all of the disgruntled customers. I don't envy them one bit, they've been put in a really hard position.

It already did happen. Earlier in the year after the first round. Delta had to cancel a bunch of flights over it.

No, they didn’t.

Flights were canceled because FAA requires 48hr from injection to duty which caused a 2-day shortage of crewmember availability…not because a bunch of people had significant side effects impacting their FAA medical.

I think that's also telling.

That the adverse effects were so common and in some cases fairly severe enough, that it warranted the FAA to proactively prevent pilots from flying for 48 hours afterwards. There was obviously a big concern, and I'm sure the data they saw warranted such preventative measures.

Can't say I've ever heard of that before, but I'm not in the industry.

For what it's worth, schools have also closed due to staffing shortages caused by adverse reactions to the vaccines, so it's not really surprising that it's also happening in another industry with an already stretched out workforce.

I'm not so sure about that. There's a very real side effect for females that got the jab that ALL of the OB docs know about. It's quite widespread. Haven't heard a peep about it in media or anywhere.

So, who's to say there aren't other things that are also being kept quiet? How many pilots out of 100 being susceptible to some serious condition is acceptable?

I an not arguing that there is some side effect that is a serious risk to a pilot in flight, simply saying that the idea that "we would know about it" isn't all that solid.

I flew for thanksgiving and wore a mask on the airplane so I could visit my family and not have to spend 30+ hours driving (but hey it would be mask free!)

Why don;t all the covid police/vax mandate and the anti-mask anti-vax get in a giant circle and you all fight to the death over who's right and the rest of us get on with our lives.

You don't know many professional pilots, do you? We fuckin' LOVE to talk and tell our business to everybody who will listen, and can't keep a secret to save our lives. :LOL:

The airline industry is heavily regulated, and has medical requirements that can keep someone from flying. Airline pilots are also heavily unionized, and based on personal experience I'd submit average airline pilot political ideology is right of center.

For those reasons and a lot more, I feel extremely confident saying if there was a trend line showing increasing numbers of pilots having severe vaccine side effects that prevented them from exercising their medical, ALPA and APA and SWAPA and IBT and IPA would be *screaming* about it in the media.

The silence should be deafening.

Yes I do, my dad is a pilot and runs an airport. I was just waiting for some reply like that.

Professional pilots are extremely concerned with losing their license or trouble with FFA, just like the doctors that are keeping quiet about a very common serious side effect in females.

That's what the government wants us to do. A divided population is much more easy to control and manipulate.

Instead, we should be pressuring the government to end the nonsense. It doesn't end until the general populace lets it be known that they won't put up with it anymore. They work for us, don't they? Time to remind them of that.

It doesn't do any good to devolve into tribal camps, "vax" or "antivax". That's so stupid and binary. The situation is much more nuanced and complex then either of those terms let alone, and distilling it to such simplicity is an insult to the situation.

Here's a little secret, none of the masks they hand out work, neck gaiters are even worse.

N95 properly fit is what you're supposed to wear for shit like this, and not for days at a time with the same mask.

It's not about it working it's about "you do as we say". It's all bullshit really. They want 6ft spacing but say you breathing will contaminate 3 store aisles.....don't forget walking to a table they wear masks, but sitting 4ft away they take it off and talk non-stop like they are in a magic bubble. When they leave they wear it alone in their car.....

I agree with you in principle but since the "anti-vax" crowd on the hide decided to come after me and my job because they are so fucking binary, they can all die in a fire for all I care.

Yeah I don't agree with all of this infighting. I think it's a big shame that all this divisiveness being spewed by government and the media has pitted us against each other.

I wish all the frustration would be directed where it belongs: towards government and healthcare officials (not doctors, nurses, etc.). That's the only way change happens. It won't happen by use fighting each other, in fact, that's completely counter-productive and just plays into what the government wants us to do.

We all need to drop the binary thinking, and drop the tribalistic tendencies to join broad camps. Time for everyone to get together and direct their energy and frustrations in a more productive manner.

For one, I don’t care about trying to enforce BS on others, just be “bad at your job” not a hard thing to claim these days

Two, the airlines are public services, at least in my mind when you take that much of my tax dollars, you become a public service, want to be “my business my rules” cool, don’t take money from my paycheck under the threat of violence.

Bottom line, they need to knock it off, I already fly the least I can these days, but between TSA and their broke down shit and staffing issues, renting a car is not that far from a decent option when I can’t 91/135 it.

Many folks with many good vaccines in their system, just don’t want a government forced one that was rushed, politicized, doesn’t do much to “stop the spread” or even keep you from getting sick, and all for a virus that has a laughable death rate.


That’s a looooooong ways from what a real “anti vax” person is, but “anti vax” is what “racist” has been lately.

That kid who worked ground crew in the PNW who stole the plane, did some loops and crashed it was a pretty epic way to go.

Also seemed like a shame, guy sounded like a decent human on the recording.

Not a bad deal for Alaska, they are looking to retire the dash 8, the audio made it obvious it wasn’t a “terrorist” or “act of war” probably got a nice insurance check for a plane they didn’t really want.

But yeah, FAA is crazy on many non issue “medical conditions” but is DILIGAF about ones with a high suicide rate. Nice knowing the guy, err gal? they? Behind the locked door might be confused about their wiener and be debating killing itself while you’re reading your kindle.

As a NG driver who got laid off because of this retarded shit and who got offered a “recall” with 4 business days notice for half of what I was making, so I can go do 18 days of reserve a month in a different base, I can personally tell those airline managers to get fucked. In fact, I have done so on many occasions and now that I’m working as a software engineer, I’m not sure I’ll be going back.
