    Charge Master or Dillion 550

So after loading up my first 100 rounds of 223 and watching my mom empty those 100 cases in a matter of mins... I am thinking I need a little quicker way to load/dispense powder then the rcbs balance beam scale I am using right now. Sinclair's has the Charge Master on sale right now for 299.00...

    # of 308 rounds till lands recede

Re: # of 308 rounds till lands recede I would say it depends on what powder you use and how "hot" the loads are. Your barrel material might also play a factor in this number.

Re: Hoping rifle when shooting with a bipod... I didn't realize how much the wall was in the way until I watched the video myself. I am going to try and get some video actually shooting..

Advanced Marksmanship Hoping rifle when shooting with a bipod...

Re: Hoping rifle when shooting with a bipod... OK, Like everyone says a post is worthless without pics, and video is even better... Here is the video...Before anyone asks or comments I cleared the weapon.. I am at work so there isn't any ammo in sight, and I cycle the bolt before I dry fire...

Re: Hoping rifle when shooting with a bipod... Ok I found this video.. Savage FP10 @ 500 yards This is the same gun I have or pretty damn close. Mine has a fluted barrel and dbm. So skip to about 3 mins in the video. He has the rifle resting on a boulder. When he fires the rifle jumps...

Over Pressure or too long of a case?

Re: Over Pressure or too long of a case? Brass sized just fine.. Handle lift was just fine.. Round chambered just fine..And I said the wrong bullet it was a 165 hpbt Brass would not extract.. the only dimension between the once fired brass and the factory ammo was the case length after...

Over Pressure or too long of a case?

Re: Over Pressure or too long of a case? It is a savage fp10.. ok if we used your numbers and my brass was in the acceptable range still.. if the bolt is stuck to the point I have to put the butt on the ground and hit the bolt handle with my hand to get the case ejected we got a problem...

Over Pressure or too long of a case?

This weekend I loaded up some .308 165 smk with 42 gr of wc846. Using blc2 data 42 gr is middle of the road. I used a complied data book that has speer, sierra, hornady and 4 or 5 more books worth of data on .308 to come to that conclusion.. I loaded 10 but only sent 4 down the tube. On three...

Advanced Marksmanship Hoping rifle when shooting with a bipod...

Re: Hoping rifle when shooting with a bipod... Ok. I am a problem solver so here goes. With me loading the bi-pod with my feet, I am taking the recoil pad out of the equation and with me being the dead weight the reaction force of the rifle instead of being directed into my shoulder is...

Advanced Marksmanship Hoping rifle when shooting with a bipod...

Re: Hoping rifle when shooting with a bipod... Thank you Frank, I have seen this video and others on this site shooting .338 etc and it looking easier than what I am witnessing in the recoil dept. I thing I might have had my legs more to the left if watching from behind with my right leg...

Advanced Marksmanship Hoping rifle when shooting with a bipod...

I have a Savage FP10 in .308 18 or 20" barrel.. I was running some factory win ammo through it last weekend for the brass (It was cheaper to buy loaded ammo then it was to buy virgin brass, so why not have some fun getting to the brass). I was using a fixed 6-8" adjustable bipod. I was sighting...

    more time than money....

Re: more time than money.... I don't know why RTH is even wasting all the time practicing on a 1000yrd range... What good does that do you shooting varmint and deer? A whole lot less the shooting from a very stable platform... I have a tripod that once folded is about the same length as a...

How would you develop a load for two rifles?

Re: How would you develop a load for two rifles? What are you wanting the rifles to do? Precision Target at long distance? Plinking? If it is just plinking around you can work up a generic load that works in both. But if you are looking for precision stuff then ya you would have to work up...

Figuring out grain of a bag of bullets

Re: Figuring out grain of a bag of bullets Call ahead to the gun store, alot of gunsmiths at gun stores do custom rounds for people. They might actually have reloading equipment in house and can weight it for you. Good luck. I know the head manager at the Gander Mtn here in Knoxville does...

    223/5.56 Max load advice

Re: 223/5.56 Max load advice Some one else might have to speak to this, but how accurate can a 14" barrel be? that isn't much tube for the bullet to hold pressure with on it's trip down the barrel. Sorry to ask these ?'s in your thread.. but I am new and I am reloading to two ar's and just...

Loading some plinking rounds for an ar15

Re: Loading some plinking rounds for an ar15 I am going to do a full post but.... I ended up loading 3 groups of 10 rounds one at 22.7 gr Varget, 23.8 and one .1 short of max load from the Hornady book @ 24.8 They rounds were 60gr on average tracer rounds on fl sized LC brass bullet seated...

Re: RCBS 10-10 gives different readings. so removing and adding one stick of powder (using varget as my example)and placing it back makes that much of a difference?

Figuring out grain of a bag of bullets

Re: Figuring out grain of a bag of bullets Find someone that reloads that can pull a bullet for you and weight it. That is about the only way (see edit below) What does the head stamp on the bottom of the case say. [edit] Bc of the differing weight of the bullet, the powder inside, and the...

    RCBS 10-10 gives different readings.

Re: RCBS 10-10 gives different readings. Well I know there is a magnet in there to keep the arm from swinging wildly. So either your tapping is making the magnet stop .1 grains higher or the magnet is making the arm rise too little when you trickle. So what I would do is go down to a hobby...

Loading some plinking rounds for an ar15

Re: Loading some plinking rounds for an ar15 I feel everyone on it is cheaper to buy plinking than the time it takes to make it. But I am just starting out reloading and I have a ton of spent brass. So I figured just making some plinking stuff and getting the machanics down will make loading...
