    Winchester 52 E

I've been attempting to determine a value for this rifle for years. Something I've owned for around 18 years, and I've never seen another one anywhere. I've had a standing offer of over 2K, but it came so fast that I was afraid the value was "buyer" favored. Any Ideas ? thanks,

To Paint or Not To Paint...

Re: To Paint or Not To Paint... but I am the designated marksman for my PD if you are actually going to use it also for work, you best check with the Dept. for their policies. The media would have a "field day" catching video of you returning back to your vehicle dressed in your black ops...

    bullet seating depth

Re: bullet seating depth be careful adjusting the die to fit the length. A good set of calipers is a better way to measure and adjust for proper length.

    Gunsmithing Devcon putty,,,Where?

Re: Devcon putty,,,Where? Devcon's website lists several "distributors" here. But the numbers listed seem to be older and some are non working. Ace hardware outlet has it, but having to pay 50% more in shipping isn't acceptable. I'll keep looking.

which has more value- powder charge or velocity

Re: which has more value- powder charge or velocity The published max vel. for the 168 smk is at 2712. I was at 2660, in a variety of different cases. I never saw any pressure signs on the fired cases, except for in one rifle I had fired brass sticking in the chamber. I backed down the charge...

    New paint job

Re: New paint job Stock paint and colors looks really nice. But I just don't have enough "huevos" to paint my scopes. I guess I can always remove paint from the stock and action if I decide different, but removing paint from the scope panics me because of the seals. Looks good. It appears to...

    Gunsmithing brass sticking in chamber

Re: brass sticking in chamber Well, I am completely amazed at the combined knowledge displayed here on this forum. I had a problem with my GAP rifle, I am guilty of not controlling my thoughts and attempting to lay blame where it didn't belong. Sorry George!! My sincerest apologies. I fired...

which has more value- powder charge or velocity

TO clarify my question, I'm dropping a "minimum recommended" powder charge as starting point, But my measured velocities are almost at the maximum. I;m trimming cases to .008 under "sierra" manual. Should I be concerned about bullet depth (OAL)? I'm not sure where to look. Thanks

    Gunsmithing Bolt Sticking Problem

Re: Bolt Sticking Problem sorry about that, I deleted my arrant posts. I'd had wwaayy too many "Fathers Day" Jello shots. Then replying to the wrong topic. Anyway, my bad, my apologies.

    Gunsmithing brass sticking in chamber

Re: brass sticking in chamber I don't think it's a brass problem. after firing a round, the bolt can be lifted and it will unlock from the chamber, but it has to be forced over beyond the "unlock" point so that the cams can create the rearward pressure to extract the shell. It's actually a...

    Gunsmithing brass sticking in chamber

Re: brass sticking in chamber the brass appears the same whether it sticks or not. The cams are contacting and apparently work because with applied pressure I can force the bolt to extract the fired case. It's just frustrating that it requires more than it should (pressure) on the handle...

    Gunsmithing brass sticking in chamber

Re: brass sticking in chamber This is a Remington 700 action. After firing there is not a problem rotating the bolt to open. Just extracting the shell. If it sticks, I have to "tap" the bolt handle with my fingers to further pressure the cam to extract. I've tried to look at the cam timing...

    Gunsmithing brass sticking in chamber

I have a GAP 308 I purchased from another member here. Very nice rifle. One caveat, My loads seem to stick in the chamber after firing. These are my "general loads" for everything I own 308. Some here have said that they are too hot. I'm not sure. These same loads function flawless in my match...
