    Range Report 90gn SMKs in a 223AI?

Re: 90gn SMKs in a 223AI? I think you might be surprise by the 90's. Jerry Teirny is making the 90 Bergers work out of a 30" 1-7.7" twist .223. Probably a single load option, when the temp is above 50 degrees, but the ballistics are impressive. How long will the AICS mags allow?

Range Report What to think of a 223 in a 20" 1:9 Twist

Re: What to think of a 223 in a 20" 1:9 Twist I had a 1-9" LTR that shot berger 75 VLDs quite well, even though it wouldn't stabilize 75 amax. Like everybody else says, try it!

Gunsmithing how much barrel on a 700 Action?

Is there a good rule of thumb when deciding how long/heavy a barrel to put on a 700 action, and still get good accuracy? I'm looking to experiment w/ the 90 Berger VLDs in F/Tr, and I already have a trued up small bolt face 700 action all bedded into a Manners stock. I'd like to spin on a 30"...

Does anybody know of a source for a 722 bolt w/ small boltface? I waiting to hear back from Dave Kiff, but any other leads would be great.

    Range Report 30" 1-11" Barrel in .308

Re: 30" 1-11" Barrel in .308 3050 is pretty common for F/Tr types shooting 155's out of 30" ish tubes. This is not to say we aren't running warm loads, but they (some more than others) are reasonable.

155 Grain 308 to 1K..which bullets are you using?

Re: 155 Grain 308 to 1K..which bullets are you using? I've found the 155.5 berger fullbore to be very forgiving. And yeah, they don't mind getting pushed, um, fast...

155.5 Berger and Varget in 308 Win

Re: 155.5 Berger and Varget in 308 Win I shot around 2000 155.5's w/ H4895 in F/Tr over the last couple of seasons. I tried Varget and got comparable velocities, but more vertical at distance. They worked better for me than the Scenars. I havn't had a chance to try the new SMK's.

Hunting & Fishing New hunting Rifle Suggestions

Re: New hunting Rifle Suggestions I'd change things up a bit. Remington Laminated stainless mountain rifle in .30-'06 ( if you must, but, consider the .280), Leupold vx3 3.5-10 M1 elevation turret, mouonted in talleys. 168 tsx will flatten your tragectory a bit, and it'll kill everything you...

    Gunsmithing sako style extractors

Re: sako style extractors It works great if I scrub the bolt face and all the associated crevices each at the end of each day of competition. It just seems to me that 50-60 rds shouldn't stock an extractor fro doing it's job. The season's over now, so it's headed to Gre-Tan for a bushing and...

    Gunsmithing sako style extractors

My f/Tr rifle is built on one of the early Prarie Gun Works Coyote single shot actions. These actions are a 2 lug design, and have a sako style extractor. Mine sometimes decides that it doesn't want to grab the rim, and then I'm stuck breaking position and doing the cleaning rod tango on the...

    Gunsmithing Badger BM inletts

Re: Badger BM inletts thanks- that's exactly my situation. Is the trimming a minor dremel job? I'm sure it would be clear as day if I had the whole works in front of me.
