Rifle Scopes SPUHR mount and Premier Heritage advice requested

A bit stumped on this... I have a Remington 700 with a EGW HD 20 MOA base, on which I have a +6MIL (~20MOA) SPUHR mount, in which I have a PH 5-25. Thus, the total inclination is +40MOA - but the problem is that the crosshair is too far below the bore line, even at max elevation adjustment...

Rifle Scopes "HD Glass" - really... what is it?

Re: "HD Glass" - really... what is it? Good question. Is it actually some sort of low-dispersion glass with good anti-reflective coating? Anyone know?

Re: Any Southern NY or TriState Area ppl here? Seems very interesting. I am in Long Island and NYC, and looking for 200 yards or more. I guess Colonial is the only choice? Does anyone know anything better?

Official (DTA) SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th And the 6 rounds would be a problem - that's actually a misdemeanor in NYC. For anyone who wants to get an SRS in NYC, get a thicker follower, and glue it in there.

Official (DTA) SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th A bit more involved than that - they need to approve of the gun unless they recognize the make/model right off the bat. Surprisingly enough, the rifles/shotgun division is actually quite responsive: you just call them at 718-520-9300, and...

Official (DTA) SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th And the attorney general will respond : "Go to the long rifle/shotgun licensing body in Queens. With photos. And money. I do not know how much money. On either Monday or Thursday. Between the hours of 10AM to 1PM. They shall decide." He...

Official (DTA) SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th It should be legal, but remember there is a 5-round limit for magazines in NON-semiauto rifles - this is what disqualifies some lever-actions. I do not remember how big the DTA mags are, but for NYC they have to be 5 or less rounds...

    Ruminations on 30cal big cartriges

It turns out that I have 2 300RUMs and 2 300 Win Mags. As I have used neither in the last half year, it's a good idea to thin the herd, so to speak. The guns in question are tuned and trued Rem 700 actions. What would _you_ keep? The 300RUM, or the 300WM? Note that the long-range bug, when...

What not to do at the range :)

Re: What not to do at the range :) Oh, the clerk was talked to. He actually sold the gun and the rounds to the guy, so that's worse. There is a difference between 7.62x54R and 7.65x54, and he was told of it. With allusions of financial ruin if the gun did blow up with the wrong ammo that he...

What not to do at the range :)

Re: What not to do at the range :) And as far as what would have happened if he somehow chambered it and did fire it? Well, bullet would get stuck immediately, pressure would spike beyond the capacity of the case to withstand. At best a ruptured case, at medium a blown action, and at worst...

What not to do at the range :)

Re: What not to do at the range :) He could not have fired it, the bolt would not close. The bullet diameter is 7.65, so it would not go in the bore far enough for the bolt to close. Hence the squished case. The danger would be a slam-fire. Which on an open bolt is admittedly quite bad.

What not to do at the range :)

The story: a guys Dragunov would not load rounds. So I looked at it. Well, I looked at a fired UNFIRED, partially chambered (This is an edit, I am an idiot. Anyway, the fact that it is unfired should be obvious ). case. And I told him to stop...
