Help with huge standard deviation in handloads.

Re: Help with huge standard deviation in handloads. The denominator for the equation for standard deviation is "n", the number of observations. You haven't told us how many observations were in each string, so a greater S.D. can be the result of fewer shots fired in a string.

Media for Thumler's Model B Tumbler?

Re: Media for Thumler's Model B Tumbler? I use stainless steel pins in my TT. I have not had one get stuck yet. I used to use ceramic media and it was always getting stuck, even in large, straight walled cases. The pins never seem to get stuck.

    45 ACP OAL Question

Re: 45 ACP OAL Question Note that some 45 acp bullets have a ledge at the point where the shank meets the ogive. This ledge has to be seated at, or below the case mouth for such bullets to cycle in the gun.

155 grain 308 secnar vs. Hornady AMAX?

Re: 155 grain 308 secnar vs. Hornady AMAX? I've shot quite a few Scenars and A-maxs with Varget. My experience is that the meplate on the Scenars is delicate and can be damaged during shipping. This is a non-factor at 600 yards and less, but shows up with flyers at 1000 yard. Because of...

What are the best barrel cleaning products?

Re: What are the best barrel cleaning products? I use BoreTech products and everyone I shoot with uses BoreTech products. I have tried many, many others over the years. BoreTech Eliminator is a good all-round cleaner. They make other, specialized products that work great too. (i.e. Moly...

Rifle Scopes MLR or MIL DOT

Re: MLR or MIL DOT I have shot both and own an MLR NXS. To my taste, the Mil-Dots clutter up the reticle. The MLR reticle is clean and easy to use. I prefer the MLR. Cleaner, simpler, easier (for me) to use.

Rifle Scopes 8-32 or 5.5-22 Nightforce NXS??

Re: 8-32 or 5.5-22 Nightforce NXS?? The critical issue may turn out to be the availability of reticles in the scopes you are considering. Nightforce has drastically changed the reticles it offers in the NXS scopes over the past six months. In my opinion, none of the currently available...

    spilled powder on carpet

Re: spilled powder on carpet I've used a little hand vac -- you know, the black & decker, battery operated kind. If there's a significant amount of powder, it's easy to empty the vac several times during the process. I've used it with black powder (not recommended, btw) and never had a...

    Rifle Scopes NF MLR ?

Re: NF MLR ? I have an MLR and it has really taught me a lot about ranging, correcting shots, and shooting. The Nightforce reticles and turrets are so precise that I have come to trust them completely. Doesn't even require thinking -- just measure with the reticle and correct with the...

    Rifle Scopes Scope Rings

Re: Scope Rings Yes, better to have and not need than need and not have. Though the NF 15X has plenty of adjustment range @ 110 moa elev. Think about the money you spent on that NF scope and, then, think about how you'll feel if the rings you get mark the scope tube. Maybe that's a...

    Rifle Scopes Target Dot Size?

Re: Target Dot Size? Just got a dot, so I've been looking at these numbers recently. Leupold dots are generally 1/5 moa (i.e. .2 moa) and NF dots are generally 1/6 moa at about .16 moa. Therefore, by comparison, your instinct about the Sightron seems correct.
