Two piece Picatinny rails vs 1 piece for my M40a1 inspiration and recoil lugs.

Well after much research, the two piece offerings didn’t have enough rail slots for my needs. I’m running a smallish Bushnell 10x40 for the time being and it just won’t work out for me. I went with the 419 rail. I think it a good compromise. It should allow easy access to the blind mag and...

Rifle Scopes Area 419 Rem 700 picatinny rail dimensions?

I’ve found the length, 6.25”. Does anyone have a height measurement at the rear? Thanks, Paul

Two piece Picatinny rails vs 1 piece for my M40a1 inspiration and recoil lugs.

Ok, so I’ve decided to go with modern glass and mounting systems. I have two candidates for one piece rails. One is the IOR. It’s 0 MOA, lays flat, has the receiver cut out. If I need more elevation, I’ll have to use Burris rings with the inserts. IOR Next is the Area 419. It’s a...

Really either. She’s grown, normal sized female.

Hunting & Fishing Gonna buy a hunting rifle for my daughter.

Haven’t had the need for blood trails. Internal damage has been significant. I’m north of 2800 FPS with my load, I can’t remember now if it’s VV or Varget . Personally, I think the 6mm class of projectiles are perfect for deer. I choose to tailor a load in .223, it’s very accurate, we...

Agreed. There have been some HUGE hogs taken with .223, dropped in their tracks. I actually don’t feel like I’m compromising or settling with .223. I prefer it.

Scope for a M40a1 look alike.

So what I’m taking away from the discussion is that in comparing apples to apples, i.e., $400 glass, I would be hard pressed to beat the T10 for it’s combination of performance and looks. That is very promising. I have a Sightron S3 3.5-10x44 coming in for a buddy. I’m gonna ask him if...

    Gunsmithing Low profile picatinny rail.

Thanks. Question: why do you think they terminate 1/4” high above the barrel? Why the added height?

    Gunsmithing Low profile picatinny rail.

I have a rifle with an M40a1 stock. I’d like to keep the glass mounted as low as possible. Here is the rail I’m considering > IOR 0 moa This is mainly for aesthetics as I’ll still have to use a stock pad I think. My question is, am I making much ado about nothing? How much physically...

Yes and pigs. I've been handloading the 65 grain SGK to great effect. All of our shots are 100 yards or so. I dropped one a few years ago, quartering away from me, running at 118 yards. The round entered high, just behind the last rib and exited out 4" behind the opposite shoulder. Exit...

Scope for a M40a1 look alike.

Maybe the coolest pic I've seen in a long time with the Gunny and that rifle. The T-10 looks good on that rifle. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to get the MST-100. I'm not sure I"m going to be happy with the optical quality of the T10. I'm not a glass snob by any means. But the...

Scope for a M40a1 look alike.

Thanks for the pic. I have the 1” tube Bushnell 3200 right now that it’s going to wear. I’m a bit concerned about durability. I have also considered the Vortex Razor HD LH 3-15X42 1” Razor. I’ve looked hard at that SWFA scope. The rifle is not historically accurate. I’m just wanting...

Hunting & Fishing Gonna buy a hunting rifle for my daughter.

We tried on rifles yesterday. Only for fit, they all had trigger locks installed. She liked everything but the Savage Axis. Probably gonna go with the 783 depending on the trigger. I’ve dry fired the Ruger American Ranch and it was rough.

What would you guys choose? A one inch tube would be great but there's not a lot to choose from. If I went with a 30mm tube (which is highly likely), I would like to keep the objective size down to 44mm or less. I'm not looking for a replica or copy, I just want to keep the similar lines if...
