    Winchester Primers loose

Re: Winchester Primers loose Usually this happens because of firing hot loads stretching the brass and enlarging the primer pocket.Wolf primers may fit a little tighter but likely the brass is about done.

    30BR

Re: 30BR I use 4198 with various bullets in a drop port Viper with an 18 twist Krieger. It shoots Bib 112 7 ogives,Cheek 115 9 ogives, and Conley 116 7 ogives well.I have done best with the Conley's using 34.7 grains of 4198. Lots of good information here...

    Digital scale information?

Re: Digital scale information? Sartorius GD 503. http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2011...-0005-of-grain/ I use it to fine tune loads after thrown by a charegemaster. You will no longer wonder about accuracy of your powder charge.Promethius would not even tell me how long to...

    Competition Shooting, whick dies?

Re: Competition Shooting, whick dies? I think that a Redding type s full length die with bushings and a micrometer seater is the most efficient way to go.Set up to barely push back the shoulder, the brass lasts as long as with neck sizing. It is handled the same way each time, with the fewest...

    Dangerous game

Re: Dangerous game I don't know about brown bear, but when ole dugga boy is staring at you through a few yards of brush with a look on his face like you owe him money, you will want more than a 30-06.

    first custom build

Re: first custom build I think you will like the 8 twist. I have a 22-250 AI in a Krieger 8 twist that I use for 300 yd score matches.I shoot a Berger 82 gr vld at 3220 using 39.0 grains of 4831sc .I can get more velocity but that is where my accuracy node is located. I got the 75 Amax up...

    DO NOT BUY these items...

Re: DO NOT BUY these items... I hope the moderators will acknowledge this is economics not politics as I cherish my right to participate on this forum. For those who defend Midway based on "capitalism",I would really encourage you to look a little deeper into how true free markets...

Rifle Scopes detachable mounts for bolt guns

Re: detachable mounts for bolt guns If you use a high quality rail and high quality rings to fit the rail ,such as nightforce, you can use one scope on multiple guns easily. I like the nightforce unimount. It has 20 minutes built in so if you put a rail on each of the guns you want to use...

    Rail - Alum vs Steel

Re: Rail - Alum vs Steel I had an aluminum base deform on a 416 Rem Mag causing a change in point of impact during a hunt.A 416 shooting a 350 gr bullet at 2600 fps is a high recoil gun,use steel bases in high recoil guns.

    H1000 in 22-250AI

Re: H1000 in 22-250AI I have not used H1000 in my 8 twist 22-250AI .Best results in my gun with 39.0 4831sc using 82 Bergers.4007SSC also did pretty well with Berger 82's and 80 SMK's.Hodgdon lists H1000 with 70 gr at 36-38gr so I would start below 40 with 75 gr bullets.

    H335 for 308

Re: H335 for 308 As mentioned by FLIGHT762 above, H335 is basicly WC844 which is a military powder for 223.If you go to WC846 you will find a more suitable 308 powder which throws just like H335,costs $94 for 8 lbs at Pat's Reloading. I find it to be just a little hotter than BLC2.Great...

    Drying Ultrasonic Cleaned Cases

Re: Drying Ultrasonic Cleaned Cases If I want to load them quickly I rinse off the cleaning solution, blow them out with the compressor I use to air up tires, and sit them on a hot plate( metal disc) on the stove. Heat them until too hot to pick up and then turn off the stove . When they are...

    308 Plinking powder

Re: 308 Plinking powder Pat's reloading sells wc846 which is said to be very barrel life friendly. I have read that the military got twice the barrel life in 223 and 308 barrels. It is supposed to burn about like blc2 but mine seems a little faster.Cost currently $94 for 8 lb. I use 41.5 gr...

Baby steps and my thoughts thus far

Re: Baby steps and my thoughts thus far Digital scales are made with 2 different technologies. The less expensive are based on strain gauge technology with its inherent warm up time and variation, but lower cost. The other technology is electromagnetic force restoration which is fast, accurate...

Rifle Scopes Magnification is more better?

Re: Magnification is more better? Don, The Huntsville range was built by Mike Cockroft largely at his expense. We shoot 400- 600 yd matches and shoot on many if not most Sundays except during these hot days recently. There is a lot of good information about the range and what we do on this...

Rifle Scopes Magnification is more better?

Re: Magnification is more better? Don, You can see bullet holes at 600 yd under good conditions with a high quality scope such as a nightforce 12x42.You probably will not see them all as some will be on lines or at other areas where the contrast is not great enough. When the mirage is bad...

Range Report 155 Berger VLD's at 308 Yards

Re: 155 Berger VLD's at 308 Yards Very nice.I have a 308 in a manners stock and I love it .I built mine with a 10 twist for heavy bullets but I usually shoot Berger 155's because it shoots them so well and more pleasant to shoot. My accuracy node with varget is 47.3 in normal weather.About a...
